The two points against Little Britain can be captured in two weeks when the clubs meet again at the B.R.C. Tuesday, January 17th saw the Goodyear boys in Ajax against the Axemen. Each team received six minors minors during the first frame with George Pithie and Glen Campbell combining for their specialty, a short- handed goal. The penalty parade continued in the second second but Bowmanville tallied twice; George Pithie again from Campbell and Rekker, while Mike Gallant's persistence persistence potted the third goal from John Hartford and Kelly Armstrong. Tne Axemen scored their only goal of the game with one minute left. More penalties penalties in the third but the Eagles Eagles soared in for two more counters. Brian Noble hit twice. The first unassisted and the second from hustling hustling linemate Greg Merkac. The Eagles were flying, giving giving 100% effort ana working well together. This usually brings success for the Goodyear Goodyear boys. Darren Bunker played a steady game in net for a 5-1 victory. Eveiw day is a different day and definitely four days later the Eagles were a different different team. .The drive and hustle of the Ajax game was gone.Scott Webster was tested tested early, having to stop two Little Britain Merchants as they swooped in all alone. But the game played Saturday Saturday in Little Britain was alackadasical, sporadic affair. affair. Both teams scored on loose pucks in respective goal creases during period one. John Hartford was "Johnny" on-the-spot for the Eagles with Glen Campbell ana Chris Shmyr responsible for getting the puck to the front of the net. Kevin Bagshaw was the big gunner for Britain in the second with Duane Webster also scoring for the locals. Larry Perris sank a sweep ing wrist shot from the point, on a set-up from Chris Shmyr and Brian Noble during during a power-play. George Pithie Pithie hit twice to tie the game. Once unassisted and again when Scott Webster hit ' Shmyr with a pass at centre. Chris flew down the right side, centred the puck and , bang, Pithie connected. 'file game remained tied until McGrisken of the Merchants Merchants broke in alone and slapped home the winner, with 2:37 remaining. The heart seemed to disappear from the usually determined Eagles and Little Britain scored two more for-a 7-4 victory. Averaging about 4 penalties penalties each per period the Axemen Axemen and Eagles put on an exciting hockey game Sunday Sunday for those fans who chose it as an alternative, to the last half of the super bowl. Darrin Darrin Bunker seems determined determined to limit Ajax to one goal each time they meet, as he did it again Sunday in his usual colourful fashion. Brian Noble, Glen Campbell and Chris Shmyr handled the scoring with Brian potting potting all three for a well deserved deserved hat-trick. The Eagles' first goal was on the power play by Noble from Shmyr at 8:25 of the second. Brian hit again at 17:42 of the third from Glen and Chris, and salted away the empty- netter from Glen with just 25 seconds left for a 3-1 triumph. "t The Eagles and their fans are hoping some generous patriot or group of patriots will donate flags to our new ice palace so they will know which way to face during the national anthem when the machine functions to ■it. fhe gravest error that seems to be hurting the Eagles Eagles when they have a bad game is give-aways. They resulted in at least two goals in Little Britain. It seems players forget that clearing the puck out of their zone is essential. The Eagles are in Port Perry Saturday at 8:00 p.m., home Sunday at 7:30 against Trenton, and home Tuesday, January 31 at 8:30 against Lakefield.
