More About Our Colorful Birds We have always admired pictures pictures and stories of the exotic birds of the tropics..but we wonder if they can compare with our own winter birds gathered around the feeders which attract the colorful Cardinals, Bluejays, Woodpeckers, Grosbeaks, Mourning Mourning Doves, Chickadees, Juncos, Nuthatches, Redpolls and so forth! One lone Robin..surprising- ly..has been seen in one area. The birds present a striking picture, indeed, especially when we have a covering of snow! Due to the cold weather..the bird feeders have quite a number of feathered friends dropping in for food. Cliff & Chris Davis & family, Scugog Point, and Larry & Betty Headon k family, Nestleton, have an interesting interesting winter with the "rainbow" "rainbow" of birds to feed and study in their leisure hours! Hie Churches On a beautiful Sunday, Feb. 5th, 11:15 a.m. Nestleton United saw a fine attendance on hand with Arthur & Barb Weir..the warm greeters at the door. Intern Minister Norman Sell was ill with the flu and couldn't attend. Rev. Dale Davis preached on "Moun- taintop Experiences"..the peaks of the valley of life..and excellent message! The children's theme was based on The Ten Commandments, Commandments, and each child was given a copy. The anthem rendered by the Choir, was wonderful, with Carol Mairs..the capable pianist. The number was entitled, "Wings of the Dove" and those who participated participated were Shirley Jackson, Kathy Tromans & Kay Notman - soprano and Betty Headon & Janice MacKenzie - alto. The offering offering was received by Arthur Weir & Arnold Williams. Appreciation Appreciation was voiced by the Minister Rev. D. Davis to the choir, the pianist, Gwen Malcolm, and all who have given inspiring leadership. At the Caesarea Community Church on Sunday..service was conducted by Lyn Arney with Charles Burck of Seeley's Bay in the pulpit. He spoke on text from Matthew 6:41. Theme "Watch and Pray, putting God first-witnessing for the Lord, and all things revere". Responsive reading was taken by Frank Arney and Scripture was read by John Doucette. Pianist - Linda Sutherland. The Sunshine Club meet as muai. At the Presbyterian Church in Nestletdrij the tisuai'sarvlee'atll- - a.m. with Rev. Fred Swann conducting conducting the service, with Joyce Taylor - the fine organist. Psalm 15 was read responsively, and Scripture was Matthew 4:10. An impressive service to induct the three newly elected Elders..Mrs. Dorothy McCabe, Mrs. Dorothy Lee and Mrs. Russell Brown, was led by Rev. Fred Swann, assisted by Elders Mr. Stan McNeely and Mr. George Scott. General Executive Meeting Held An executive meeting of the General U.C.W. was held at the home of Jean Williams in Nestleton, on Tuesday Jan. 21, at j:30 p.m. President Jean..with Sec'y Barb Weir taking the minutes..opened the meeting wth a poem "No Time" and led a discussion r.e. : many events in planning stage for year 1989, such as fund raising, catering ideas, outings, smorgasbord, hoe-down, prices, etc. These recommendations recommendations to be brought to the General meeting on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Nestleton Church. Afternoon Unit is in charge of programme, lunch etc. At the close of the interesting afternoon the hostess served a delightful lunch..before wending our way homeward. The World Day of Prayer will be hosted by the Catholic Women's League, in the Nestleton Community Centre, March 3, at 2 p.m. The afternoon unit of the Nestleton U.C.W. will meet at the home of Anne Emerson, on Tuesday, Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 1:30 p.m. A good attendance is expected !
