The club presents bursaries each year to three females who are studying for careers in non-traditional fields. Everything is reused. Raw meat and food are on the street to be sold. There aren't any paper bags or paper in which to wrap the groceries. Their means of transportation is by bicycle or carts. They stack their goods and belongings in tiers on the bicycle. The carts are pulled behind them to transport materials. They wash their clothes in the river. Mrs. Prescott said "They are clean people." Their meals are different. There was a McDonalds in the area where she was visiting. visiting. Our next meeting will be held Thursday, April 6, at 1:30 p.m. Visitors Welcome. News from Ontario Street The Gr. 6's of Ontario Street school went to Camp TAWINGO Wednesday, February February 15. They had a wonderful wonderful time. There was a meter meter of snow, much more than what we have here. In some places it was up to their waists. There were plenty of activities to keep them busy, such as snowshoeing across the lake, skiing, climbing mountains, tobogganing, orienteering, and much, much more. The survival game, where the students simulate predator-prey cycles cycles was probably the most preferred activity. The food was delicious and probably better than most camps and the counselors counselors were very nice. The counselors' names were Steve and Ian, and they taught us some interesting games and songs. The students students also had campfires and they saw a slide presentation presentation on wolf and deer ecology. ecology. On Monday, February 20th many events took place. In the morning from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. we nad an assembly assembly which included 3 plays, and many songs. It was well done! Also, during the assembly we crowned the King and the Queen of the Carnaval. They were Andra Kent and Joshua Denny from Monsieur Monsieur Turbide's class. Congratulations! Congratulations! At 1:00 in the afternoon there was a public s; PJ ll i public speaking contest. In fourth place was Tracy Arnott, in third was Jamie Douglas, in second was Tawnie Traynor and in first was GREG EVANS. Congratulations Greg and to all those who participated! On Tuesday, February 21st. Ontario Street School gathered together and each class made a snow or ice sculpture out on the front lawn of the school. I enjoyed it very much and I'm sure everyone else did also, by Shannon Saunders Carnaval Wednesday Wednesday we had a pizza pizza hot lunch day. Every student student could buy slices of pizza, pizza, baby doughnuts, and a juice to drink. This was followed followed by an afternoon of skating at the new Bowmanville Bowmanville Arena. The entire day was a great success! by Hilary Jennings Carnaval Thursday On Thursday afternoon, the entire school was divided divided into groups of 12-15 students students from grades 1 - 6. Activities Activities were organized by each staff member in the school. The student groups each visited three of the activities activities for a total of 45 minutes minutes per activity. Some of the activities included were baking, science experiments, castle building, silhouette making, murals, and bingo.
