RERPRESENTS AC-DELCO IN STOCK CAR RACE -- Randy MacDonald, one of Canada's top professional racers, will wear the AC-Delco colors in the newly- formed G.M. Motorsport National Stock Car Series. Randy's latest racing endeavours have been concentrated concentrated in the Players/GM Motorsport Series in 1987 and 1988. He won Rookie of the Year Honors in 1987 and placed first in two races in 1988. The first event of the 10-race series commenced on Sunday, April 30, at the Sanair Speedway. TOWN MEDALS PRESENTED TO MIDGETS -- Newcastle Newcastle Mayor Marie Hubbard was a guest last week at the annual Bowmanville Minor Hockey Association Banquet. Mayor Hubbard, along with Councillor Pat Deegan, presented the Halmincn Midgets, Ontario's Champions, with medallions reserved by the Town of Newcastle for honoring special athletic achievement. The Bowmanville Senior Public School boys' basketball basketball team captured its 10th Northumberland and Newcastle Western Area Championship in the last 11 years recently. The team swept through the playoffs and defeated The Pines 60-25 and 62-33, to complete an undefeated season. Peewees competed in the Forsey Signs Peewee Select Tournament in the Bowmanville Bowmanville Complex. In their first game the I.O.O.F. I go to practice on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Saturday. The practice is an hour and a half. I am learning front crawl, back crawl, flutter kick and sometimes dolphin kick and whip kick. , I use the pull buoys and the flutterboard. My brother is on the swim team too. The Newcastle Fitness Centre will be host to the Region 12 Ontario Special Olympics Swim meet to be held Sunday, May 7th from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Registered Special Olympic Olympic athletes will compete at this meet to qualify for the Provincials during the Summer Summer Special Olympic Games to be held in Toronto. Swimmers in the Special Olympic events, compete ac-i cording to age groups. In March we went to District Bowling in Trenton where we had to bowl against 40 teams and came in 1st. On April 22 we travelled to Sudbury for Provincial Bowling where we had to compete with 40 teams and were able to come in 2nd.
