OBITUARIES Wilbert Tecplc Following a brief illness, Wilbert Teeple died on Thursday, April 20, 1989, in Memorial Hospital, Bow- manville. He was in his 88th year. Born at Wanstead, he was educated in Plympton Twp. The son of Lewis and Katie Teeple, he was married married to G. Elizabeth Hancock in July of 1932. He had been a resident of Bowmanville for 53 years, previously residing in Sarnia. Sarnia. An electrical installations machinist and civil servant he retired 22 years ago from the Ontario Civil Service at the Boys' Training School, in Bowmanville. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church where he served as an elder for many years, a member of Durham Chapter #181, O.E.S., the Palestine Chapter Chapter # 249, G.R.C., and of Jerusalem Jerusalem Lodge #31, A.F. and A.M. Surviving are his wife, daughter Catherine E. May, Peterborough . and two grandsons. Funeral services were held on Thursday, at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville, with the Reverend N. The Visual Arts Centre also operates a photography photography class on Tuesday evenings from seven p.m. to nine p.m. LINDSAY LEGION MARKS D-DAY ANNIVERSARY ANNIVERSARY -- On Saturday, June 3, the Lindsay branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a parade to commemorate the D-Day invasion. Over 400 marchers with 25 to 30 color parties will be attending. The parade begins at 11:15 a.m. There will be numerous festivities festivities immediately following the parade. Maurice Everson Prout A lifelong resident of Bowmanville, and respected, Maurice Everson Prout died in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, on Tuesday, April 4,1989, in his 77th year. Son of the late Thomas Everson and Jessie Prout, he was bom and educated in Bowmanville. He was married married in 1937 to Vera Shack- leton. An employee of the Goodyear Goodyear Rubber and Tire Co., for 44 years, he had served as Vice-President of the U.R.W. Union for six years. His main interests involved involved around politics and he served the public faithfully, faithfully, was a member of Bowmanville Bowmanville Council from 1965 to 1972, and on the Durham Regional Council until 1982. At this time he also served as a trustee with the Northumberland-Newcastle Board of Education for five years. A member of the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Area, a member of Memorial Hospital Board for two years, and was a Grand Master of the Bowmanville Royal Orange Lodge #2384.He was also a member member of Trinity United Church. His hobbies were gardening, gardening, especially flowers, and sports. For two years _ he sponsored a local minor hockey team called Prout's Raiders. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Vera, son Donald Donald of Kendal, daughters Joyce (Mrs. M.Brown) New Brunswick, and Marilyn (Mrs. Paul Newhall) Whitby, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three sisters Audrey (Mrs. George Hilson) Aura (Mrs. Cliff Tre- win) and Vivian (Mrs. Neil Britton), Belleville. Pallbearers were grandsons grandsons Donald Jr. and Randy Prout, Dean Brown, Darren Newhall, and son-in-law Paul Newhall. TREE REPLACEMENT -- On Sunday, May 21, at two p.m., the Clarke Museum will be dedicating dedicating a special commemorative plaque in the main gallery to thank the many groups who donated donated trees for planting on the grounds in 1988. The tree replacement program was created to safeguard the natural beauty of the museum's grounds and ensure that future generations will be able to enjoy the natural environment. Also, on Sunday, Curator Mark Jackman will be conducting a hands-on demonstration of papermaking papermaking from recycled newspapers.
