His sermon was on the story of the boy with the five loaves and two fishes and how Jesus fed the 5000 people people after the sermon. Mrs. Quantrill and Mrs. Trew took up the offering. Mr. Peacock was at the door and coffee was served at the close. The Elizabethville Women's Women's Institute met on Tuesday Tuesday at Miss Edith Carruth- er's. Ten members attended. The residents of Manvers Township particularly those involved in the sports field were deeply shocked and saddened to learn that one of their number John Mar- nock of Caesarea, a hockey coach at Manvers Arena, died tragically in a car accident accident on County Road 57 near Blackstock this past Surf and Turf dinner and dance in Blackstock Rec. Centre on Saturday evening. The lobster was excellent. Local residents were saddened saddened to hear of yet another death of a former resident of the Bethany area in the person person of Mr. Harold Page of Peterborough. Although Harold had suffered poor health recently, his passing was a shock to all. The Yelverton U.C.W. provided lunch to a large gathering of relatives and friends following the service. Lorraine was held in the highest esteem by all. Just learned of the passing passing of yet another former Yelverton in the person of Mr. Leonard Fowler. Leonard Leonard lived for many years with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Fowler and sister Margaret Margaret in the residence west of the current Dew Drop Inn, 2 miles east of the hamlet, hamlet, Yelverton. In earlier years Leonard was an honorary honorary member of our Yelverton Yelverton Men's hardball team where he was a valued addition addition to the team as official scorekeeper and kept an update update record of all our batting averages, etc. Later, he moved to a residence behind the Anglican Church in Bethany Bethany until moving to a retirement retirement home later. Boy are we observant.In a recent edition of the Bowmanville Bowmanville Statesman the wedding picture of our next door neighbours Isabel and Norman Wilson was displayed displayed in all their youthful glory- a mere 40 years ago. This photo was a tribute to their parents by their three daughters Ann, Norma and Barbara. And we never even noticed it till someone else drew our attention to it. Just received word that Mrs. Barry Preston (nee Lorraine McGill) has just passed away following a valiant valiant but futile fight against the dreaded disease cancer. Lorraine possessed possessed a cheerful outgoing personality and was well liked by everyone who knew her. She will be sadly missed indeed.
