At right is Jo-Anne Smithson who received the Ontario Cooperative Cooperative Education Association certificate of achievement for her work as a co-op student. Joy Asselstine holds the individual progress award which is presented to a student who displays exceptional academic ana personal growth. This year, a total total of 211 adult students attended classes at the Centre for Individual Studies during during the daytime and evenings. The centre is located in the basement of Central Public School, Bowmanville. Classes resume in September. With the help of Lange Photo and Intowne Gallery, several 1 ot the 5th Brownies earned their Photography Photography and Art Appreciation Appreciation badges. Detective Cur- wain reminded all of us about safety rules and helped the girls earn their Cyclist badge. During the year, we looked into how we could help endangered species species with Brian Brazier from CLOCA. Mr. Rekker gave us a nice tour to help improve our green thumbs. At the end of the tour, we all planted planted a marigold, just in time for Mother s Day. I'd like to thank these people and anyone anyone else who has helped make our past year enjoyable enjoyable in the 5th Bowmanville Brownie Pack. See you in the fall! Guiding has come to close for another year. Most of the units have had their final meetings, ceremonies and year-end trips. Our Division is fortunate to have a summer summer camp in July at Camp Adelaide. Many of our leaders leaders are giving generously of their time to see that our girls have the opportunity to attend this summer camp. It is a chance for girls to meet new friends and enjoy the bond that is set when you attend these camps. Some of the leaders' fondest memories memories are of the summer camps that they attended. The memories stay with you forever. The Guides and Pathfinders are doing a Pennsylvania Exchange during during the summer. Girls from Pennsylvania will be coming to our area and spending time touring Ontario with some of the girls. Next year it is our turn to go to Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania. These exchanges give girls the opportunity to explore new places and meet other girls from other countries countries and to make lasting friendships. Guiding gives girls and leaders many chances to travel to other . countries and even work in our World Centres. Even though the units have take a summer break, Guiding still goes on! Summer camps, exchanges exchanges and leaders planning their next year's agenda are part of the summer. From all the leader in Bowmanville - a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all the parents that helped our units and all the people and businesses that helped our girls over the past year. Everyone's Everyone's hep has made the year a very successful one for each and every unit in Bowmanville. The badges and the cords could not have been possible without the support that is given by the families and the community. The Bowmanville District would also like to thank the CANADIAN STATESMAN for the superb support that they have given us over the past year by allowing us to submit our articles and by being at all our special events to take photos. It is people like this that help make the leaders job better. So many, many thank you from all the units!!!
