I 22 The Canadian Statesman, Bowman ville, August 23,1989 OBITUARIES Laura Lillian Rose Longo A supervisor secretary with Canada Life Insurance Company, Laura Lillian Rose Longo aged 44, died at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, on Thursday, August August 3, 1989. She had been Ml, three to five years. Daughter of Rose Griffin, and the late John Griffin, she was born in Weston, and educated at Enniskillen Public School, and Courtice High School. She was married married September 9, 1972, to Michael Longo. A resident of Seagrave for 16 years, she was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, Port Perry. She had been employed by Canada Life for 15 years. Left to mourn her passing passing are her husband Michael, Michael, and two daughters Jennifer and Michelle, at . home. Charles Elliott Bell Born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan, Charles Elliott Bell, aged 59, died in Memorial Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, on Monday, August 7, 1989.He had been in the hospital 10 weeks. He was married May 18, 1956 to Jean H. Mackey, and has resided in Newcastle Newcastle for 21 years. Employed as a body-trim worker at Ontario Motor Sales, Oshawa for 18 years, he had been two and a half years on Disability. Surviving are his wife Jean, son David and his wife Cynthia, one grandson, sisters sisters Vivian, Margaret and Anne, and a brother Wes. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville, with the Reverend Reverend Donald Stiles officiat- . ing. Pallbearers were Messrs. Ken Fraser, Wayne Flintoff, Tony Anderton, Dean Card, Wes Bell and Paul Varty. Interment Bon'd Head Cemetery. Cemetery. John Horatio Hills Born in Orono, and educated educated in Tyrone, John Horatio Horatio Hills, (Med in St. Joseph's Hospital, Peterborough, on July 30, 1989, at the age of 92. He had been ill two weeks. Son of Horatio H. Hills and Bessie Cole Buckley, he was married to Olive Laura Bellman, on November 25, 1922. A resident of Millbrook for 30 years, and previously a resident of R. R. 1 Ennis- . killen, R. R. 1 Bowmanville and Tyrone, he had been a self employed dairy farmer from 1922-1957, and the owner of the Red and White grocery store in Millbrook • from 1959-1974, retiring at the age of 78. He was a lifelong member of the United Church of Canada, and a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his wife Olive, daughters Margaret Gray, Joyce Hills, Mildred Campbell, Gwen Acheson, Jacqueline Dawson. He was predeceased by a daughter Dorothy Louise, a sister - Mrs. S. Hoar (Amelia) and a ' brother, Albert Hills. Funeral services were held August 2 at St. Andrew's Andrew's United Church Millbrook. Millbrook. The Reverend Robert Matheson officiated and the organist was Betty Brown. Pallbearers were grandchildren grandchildren Wendy Thompson, Sandra Hill, Kevin Daw, Tim Paul, Mark and Timothy Timothy Dawson. Albert Dewarren Diehl Born and educated at Cypress Cypress River, Manitoba, Albert Albert Dewàrren Diehl, aged 56, died in Bowmanville, on Tuesday, August 1,1989. He had been ill five and a half years. Son of the late Albert and Maude Diehl, he was married married to Viola Smith in 1957. A resident in Pontypool for seven years, he had resided resided at Kincardine (Port Dover) for eight months. Employed by Ontario Hydro Hydro Darlington Generating Station as an iron worker foreman, he took early retirement retirement November 1, 1988. He was a member of the United Church. Surviving are his wife Viola, Viola, son Brad and his wife Carol, daughter Valerie, two grandchildren brothers Art, Walter and Wilfred. Funeral services were conducted by the Reverend P. Shepherd on August 7 in Cypress River United Cnurch. Honorary pallbearers were Mr. and Mrs. Murray Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Ruston, Don Carnegie and JefTYoung.
