Evening began with a belated dinner party in honour of Betty's recent birthday and every one returned to the Wright home for a social evening of reminiscing and music. There will be not dogs ; Dave Koenders, of Nepean, (near Ottawa), found one of the balloons released at last year's Blackstock Fair balloon-a-thon, Naturally, he was curious about where the balloon came from, so this year he paid a visit to the Blackstock for the August 26th fair. Dave is shown here along with Chad Holland (left) who earned third prize in the balloon-a-thon, and picked up a cheque for three dollars. Actually, there were two other prizes given out to balloon-launchers. The first-prize balloon was discovered in Newfoundland while the second prize balloon went as far as Quebec. The balloon-a-thon continued on Saturday. Of course it will be some time before the fair receives word of exactly how for this year's balloons travelled. OBITUARY Mary Gould Born at Irvine, Scotland ary t Ir and educated in Scotland, Mary Gould, aged 62, died Saturday, August 12, 1989, in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville. Bowmanville. She had been ill two years. She was married Easter 1984, to Hazen Gould. She was previously deceased by husband William Kean, in 1981, whom she married in Scotland in 1941. A resident of Bowmanville Bowmanville for the past five years, she had previously resided in Newcastle where she was caretaker at the Newcastle United Church, retiring five years ago. She was a member member of the Anglican Church where she sang in the choir. Surviving are her husband husband Hazen, daughter Sandra Sandra Barnett and son William Kean. The Reverend Byron Yates officiated at the funeral funeral service held on Tuesday. Funeral music was by the church choir. Pallbearers were: James, Paul and Glenn Gould, Keith and Lyle Paterson.
