September 13,1989 OBITUARIES Vera Mildred Adler. At the age of 95, Vera Mildred Adler died suddenly on Monday, August 21,1989 in Bowmanville. Daughter of Andrew and Annie Pennington she was born near Hampton, and educated educated in Bowmanville. In 1916 she married the late Fred Cryderman, and in 1952 married the late Edward Edward Adler. From 1926 - 1973 she resided resided at 29 Horsey Street, and from 1973-1980 at 120 Queen Street, in Bowmanville. Bowmanville. She was employed in the office at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company from 1916- 1918. A devoted wife and mother mother she also gave willingly of her time and help to many. A member of St. John's Anglican Anglican Church, she had also been a member of the Rotary Rotary Anns. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery. John Thomas Weir Swain At the age of 92, John Thomas Weir Swain, died in Port Perry Community Hos- pital, on Friday, August 11. 1989 following several months illness. Son of Stanford and Catharine (Werry) Swain,' he was born in Cartwright Township, and educated at Purple Hill. He was married October 8, 1977, to Meta Read. A resident of Haydon since 1977, he had also resided resided in Nestleton and Toronto. Toronto. A miner and prospector employed at various mines in Ontario and Quebec, he had also been employed as a stationary engineer at Pa- tons and Baldwins, Toronto. He retired in 1975. He was a member of the United Church of Canada, an honorary member of the Royal Black Preceptory #398, L.O.L. #133, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 178. During World War 1 he served with Sixth Company, Canadian Machine Machine Corps. Surviving are a sister Ann Sanderson, Toronto, brothers Herb Swain Black- stock, and Harold Swain, Tyrone. A resident of the Oshawa and Bowmanville area all his life, Terrance Michael Beckett, aged 31, died on Saturday, August 19, 1989, following a car accident. Son of Dawson and Muriel Muriel Beckett, he was born in Oshawa and educated at Maple Grove East, M. J. Hobbs, and Bowmanville High School. He was married married July 12, 1980 to Darlene Darlene Poirier. A resident of Holt Road North, the past year, he had been employed as a member of the Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, house-keeping staff for five j'ears. He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Roman Catholic Church, Bowmanville. Bowmanville.
