l The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, October 25,1989 23 Talented Artists Win Big Brothers Coloring Contest The winners of the Big Brothers Colouring Contest which was held to celebrate Big Brothers Month in September were awarded their prizes recently in the Big Brothers offices on Church Street, Bowmanville. Ryan Hoy won the four to six-year-old division with his adroitly-coloured poster and Nicholas Tutkoluk was the runner-up. In the seven to nine-year-old division, division, Alisha Hart came first, just ahead of Jamie Lynch and in the 10 to 13 division Chris Hart and (Jr* 1 *; ' J/LkL Johnnie Williams, a Little Brother, took the honours. The event was organized by Barb Williams, Marg Down, and Dianna Heald. The judges, Margaret Rogers Rogers and Roberta Stasyszyn, had no easy task choosing the winners from the 77 entries. On October October 11 our Senior Boys soccer soccer team was victorious over Campbellford 4-3. The goals were scored by Chris Vanha- verbeke, Bruno Scanga, and Rob Iantomassi, who scored the winning goal. Our Junior Junior Girls Basketball team is also deserving of congratulations congratulations for defeating St. Maiy's High School by the score of 27-19. All the girls were commended for tneir Dumouchel excellent performance. Also on October 12, St. Stephen's Cross-Country team travelled travelled to Belleville and participated participated in a very long, competitive competitive race. Other classes will be staying at the camp for weekends in the winter. St. Stephen's has been using the camp in the winters since the school opened. The grade nines enjoyed going in October, but some of us would feel much safer there when the lake is frozen over. Another recent event is the starting of MegaHunt, a school-wide scavenger hunt using the homerooms as teams. This activity will run from October 12-26. As we write there is much excitement excitement and hub-bub in the school as staff and students help to prepare for our first Graduation ceremonies on Friday, October 20.
