Poster CMM,CD, Commander Commander of Canada's Army, has approved approved the promotion of Major Major Denis Meloche CD to Lieutenant-Colonel and appointed appointed him Commanding Officer effective February 11. He succeeds Lieutenant- Colonel His Honour Judge Donald Halikowski CD, AdeC whose three and one- half year tenure has been completed. "Colonel Halikowski has done an outstanding job during during his tenure", said Colonel Mann in expressing her appreciation appreciation on behalf of all members of the Regiment. The Ontario Ontario Regiment has been a fixture fixture of Ontario County and Durham Region, having been founded in Whitby, with troops located in Columbus, Columbus, Brooklin, Uxbridge, Cannington and Sunderland. Lieutenant-Colonel Meloche Meloche was born in Windsor, Ontario in 1945. he completed completed his education in Windsor and in Detroit, Michigan where he received a Bachelor Bachelor of Science degree in Business Business Administration from Wayne State University. Colonel Meloche began his military career in 1961 with The Windsor Regiment. He was commissioned in 1964 and held progressively more important positions within the Regiment until 1973 when he was appointed appointed Commanding Officer of 21 (Windsor) Service Battalion. Battalion. He was transferred to Oshawa in 1977 and joined The Ontario Regiment. He subsequently held various command appointments including including a two year posting to Toronto Militia District Headquarters as a Staff Officer Officer in Operations and Training. He was appointed Deputy Commanding Officer of the Regiment October 1, 1988. Lieutenant-Colonel Meloche Meloche has held positions as Commander or Directing Staff member on many officer officer rank qualification and tactics courses. In February 1988, he served as a duty officer officer during Exercise WIN- TEX at NATO Headquarters, Headquarters, Brussels, Belgium. Lieutenant-Colonel Meloche Meloche is a member of The Royal Canadian Armoured Corps Association, the Ontario Ontario Regiment Association and Ferret Club, The Industrial Industrial Accident Prevention Association and the Canadian Canadian Society of Safety Engineering.
