Jug City Novice Selects Play in Oshawa Tourney The Graham Jug City Novice Selects participated in their first major tournament tournament of the season when they attended the Oshawa Annual Heritage Invitational Invitational Hockey Tournament on February 10th and 11th. The competition involved six teams, with sides travelling in from as far as London and Hamilton while Oshawa supplied three teams from their various leagues and Bowmanville making up the sixth team. Although Bowmanville Bowmanville would be the smallest smallest centre to enter this competition, competition, this would have no effect on' the team as they would go undefeated to win the "A" Championship. In the opening game the opposition was ' N.A.S.C. Oshawa. Although Bowmanville Bowmanville -did appear to hold the edge in play, a pair of third period goals were needed to pull this game out 3-1. After the Oshawa team had taken the lead at . the midway mark of the opening period, Danny MacDonald assisted by Clayton Kohn evened the score. But early in the second period Oshawa again took the lead. Bowmanville has developed a reputation of never giving up and proved this with an especially strong third period. With a Bowmanville player in the penalty box, strong fore checking by Dan MacDonald allowed Brian Lowery to intercept intercept an errant Oshawa pass and then beat the opponents' opponents' goal keeper to again tie the score. The Ontario government recently introduced special initiatives to interest more people, both men and women, women, in trades and technology. Training in new occupations is being offered in response to market demands. In conjunction with the Ministry of Skills and Development, Development, and the Ministry of Education, the Northumberland Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education is sponsoring an annual Trades and technology technology Career Week. The target groups are Grades 9 and 10. Their record to date is 6 wins and 3 losses and they are in a tough battle for a playoff spot. Kevin Louws and Trevor Lomax Lomax are two of the better first year players in the league and as well are consistently consistently among the game high scoring leaders.
