Moderator Visits Oshawa Presbytery The Moderator of the United Church of Canada, Right Reverend Sang Chul Lee paid a visit to four churches in the Oshawa Presbytery on Tuesday, February February 13, 1990. Reverend Brian Gee who is Chairman of Oshawa Presbytery was host and guide for The Moderator. Moderator. At each of the four churches visited - Port Perry at 8 a.m., Greenwood at 10 a.m., Kedron at 12 noon, Newcastle at 2 p.m. - church members in Oshawa Presbytery Presbytery were there to greet Reverend Reverend Lee and chat with him. At Kedron Church where Oshawa Presbyterial U.C.W. executive members were holding an all-day meeting, a light lunch was provided for Reverend Lee, Reverend Gee, and Reverend Hughes, minister of Kedron, by Presbyterial Presbyterial U.C.W. UCW Meeting In Bowmanville On Wednesday, March 7, 1990 women from Oshawa Presbyterial U.C.W. will be gathering at Trinity United Church in Bowmanville for their annual meeting. Registration Registration begins at 9 a.m. followed followed by an opportunity to peruse and purchase books in the Book Room. Eileen Down and Marg Mundy will be leading in a time of singing. singing. President of Oshawa Presbyterial U.C.W., Jaque- lin Guthrie will preside over the business portion of the day. The new executive will be installed by Reverend Brian Gee who is Chairman of Oshawa Presbytery. Betty Turcott of Trinity United is the in-coming president. The theme for the day is "Life in its Fullness" and the guest speaker,- Judith Snow will speak in the morning and again in the afternoon. Judith has a lifetime of experience experience living with cpindra- plegia and works with others others toward building a world where everyone is seen as gifted and is supported to participate in everyday life. She has her B.A. in Mathematics Mathematics and Psychology and an M.A. in Clinical and Counselling Psychology from York University. Judith was the founder of the Center for Special Services for Handicapped Handicapped Students at York- the first service in Canada to provide a broad range of supports to physically disabled disabled students. For three years she was the coordinator coordinator of that Center. Judith Judith is presently involved with the Canadian Association Association for Community Living. Members Members rode with Mrs. Plea- sance and Mrs. Pascoe to the destination of Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home. Here Cory Kuipers escorted us to the viewing area where we had a short film strip on death. The film strip showed how children react to pets dying then in turn people. It said that showing your feelings feelings or being angry isn't unnatural unnatural and is just a part of coping with a loved one's death. It went through the various stages after death like the funeral and burial. Corey then informally had a question and answer period about funerals. He then took us downstairs where we saw the casket room. This is where the family picks out a casket for the deceased. ' There are stainless steel or wooden caskets to choose from. Examples were handed handed out by Nancy from Mrs. Pascoe and Mrs. Pleasance. They ranged from baby shower gifts, wedding gifts to funeral donation thank yous. Everyone did an excellent job. Pleasance Vincent Massey News Mrs. Fetch does not have a school of her own. She is a supply teacher for our school area. She has supplied at six different schools. She has her home in Millbrook. The thing she likes best about Vincent Massey is the nice kids and teachers. She has fourteen horses on her ranch which must keep her very busy. Leslie Adams is one of Mrs. Fetch's students. She likes making booklets but hates gym. by Melissa Bowen On my trip to Ganarnska I learned many skiing skills. The class was taught to skate on skiis, do the herring herring bone up the hills and snowplow on the way down. We had a Night Hike for the first night we arrived, and n skit night the next evening. We also played an endangered endangered species game.
