Triplex Lloyd, a diversified British firm, purchased the plating division of Manchester Plastics Ltd. The company now employs 312 people at two locations in Whitby and Peterborough. The firm manufactures exterior exterior injection molded plastic trim for the automotive industry. PORT PERRY - It's officially spring on Lake Scugog. Scugog. The leaves may not yet be on the trees, but the last patch of ice in Lake Scugog has finally vanished. The ice disappeared on Good Friday. And although weather has been cool, this date is by no means a record. March 16, 1983, was the earliest date on record for the departure of the ice. The latest date is April 29 of 1965. PORT PERRY - The Durham Region's public works department is searching for a source that can supply water to the nearly 200 nomes in Greenbank. To date, one source of water capable of supplying 50 gallons per minute has been located about three miles from the hamlet. But the approximately 200 homes in Greenbank need 82 gallons per minute. The Durham Region plans to continue test drilling in order to find a satisfactory source of water. PORT PERRY -- A Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic held in Port Perry has yielded 116 pints. The clinic, sponsored by the Kinsmen and Ki nettes, took place Thursday, April 12. The results are down somewhat from the usual 180 to 200 units collected at this event.
