Telephone 623-0323 Dear Editor, In a recent article in The Statesman, it was stated that the Town of Newcastle intended to have developers remove their unsightly signs from public property. A drive around town will reveal a startling array of signs advertising various subdivisions. This gives the Town of Bowmanville a tacky look. Are the developers paying paying rent, or are these signs, in fact, going to be removed? We have always thought Bowmanville was a beautiful beautiful town, but with the present construction causing dirt and dust, along with the loss of green belts and the presence of advertising bulletins, the appearance of Bowmanville is a disgrace. Come on, town council, let's clean up our act! Kathy and David L. My response also explained explained that I have operated the "Kelly Funeral Home" for 25 years; the business was founded over 100 years ago and serves an English- speaking population of some 5000 people in the Huntingdon Huntingdon area of the Chateau- guay Valley. Prime Minister Mulroney replied that the Language law did not maintain the right to freedom of expression and "that the decision of the government government of Quebec was both disappointing and unsatis- factoiy."
