The Orono Town hall staff really go all out to train these little fellows and its really a triathalon, first they run down the,hill, next they swim, then go through a tunnel and slow-down humps in the road, always crowds to witness and cheer each face. Old McDonald's Farm always always a crowd pleaser, both old and young, and especially especially this year the Mother donkey donkey and baby. Lambs, goats, Canada geese, puppies, kittens kittens and even a wila turkey! The poultry exhibits were again exceptional with a very heavy entry of over 600 birds, ancl a good number of waterfowl this year. At the top the kids could reach into pails and receive candy. We forgot to mention the free trees given out in the tent. We wish to thank Ontario Hydro for the splendid overall overall addition to our 1990 Durham Durham Central Fair. Livestock News On Friday afternoon we stopped by the stables to view the cattle on display and talked to Mr. Leonard Mortson, Barrie,i Ont., a first-time exhibitor at our fair of pure-bred"Mordale Jerseys." And he was telling us, one of the reason he chose to come here this year, was the fact of the Jersey Cattle judge is here from Port Alegie, Brazil. The judge recently imported imported 100 head of jesery cows from Canada. Being an old exfarmer, we found the large Blond Di- quitane herds, a new type of farm animal. A great display of these large animals by "Marmac Farms," and of local local interest, a well-known local local young couple Harvey and . On Thursday evening of the fair, the "Black and White" show was excellent with over 100 entries, and all of good quality. These were 50 to 55 antique cars in the Saturday fair parade, and a record-breaking entry list of cars (147) in competition. Trophies were supplied by Midas Mufflers, Oshawa and our grateful thanks to all local merchants who supplied supplied all the door, prizes at this show. We've already mentioned the excellent school displays in the main building. There were 15 schools from all over our area represented, with three nursery schools and play groups from both Newcastle and Orono. A big thank-you to Armstrong's Armstrong's I.G.A. for donations of candies for our parade, also to Apple Blossom Shop for lovely carnations given to ladies along the parade route.
