Geranium Homes' Atoms Reach 'A' Finals by Trevor Wright The 11 skaters and two 1 coaches of Geranium Homes set out to the Newcastle Arena Arena for a very exciting tournament tournament on December 29, 1990. It would be the first tournament for Geranium. The first game was against Newcastle. We knew we were up for one of the toughest games, since Newcastle Newcastle were top in their division division with no losses. If it wasn't for Dan Katsikis keeping Geranium Geranium in the game, it could have been a different score. Late in the second, Paul Drummond slipped through the defence ana slapped it in. It was now 3-2. Two minutes minutes into the third period, Trevor Wright got his second second unassisted goal. It looked like it would be a 4-2 ■game until Paul Drummond scored with 23 seconds left, with the assist going to Ted Fitzgerald. That ended the game with a 5-2 win for Geranium. Geranium. That win over Newcastle would mean Geranium would have to play Orono. This game was very important important for Geranium because if they were to win, they would advance to the 'A' finals. The game started off with Brian Hudgin scoring, with assists going to Bradley St. John and Mark Ganhao. At the 2:00 minute mark, Paul Drummond scored with Brock Baker assisting to make it 2-0. Langes Photo Peewees Advance to 'A' Finals pee- On the weekend of Jan. 26-27, Langes were participants participants in the B.R.H.L. wee tournament. Our weekend began at 7:00 a.m. on Sat. with Bow- manville's Cutting Post as our opponents. For some unknown unknown reason, our boys seem to thrive on these early early hours and the final result was 8-3 in our favour. Coming Coming up big for us was Kevin Grootendorst with a hat trick. The championship game saw us pitted against Oshawa's Christ Church. This was a classic match-up nnd both sides knew what they wore up against. Wo had met three times before and had managed two wins nnd a tie with every game going to the wire, This day the numbers game caught up with us and yet another thrilling game ended with Christ Church winning 3-0 nnd taking the trophy. Stephanie Axford, Traci Hanc and Diane Hornsby received received the first installment of their athletic scholarships during a luncheon attended by members of the media, corporate sponsors, and college college officials. The scholarships are valued valued at $500 per year for the remainder of their college careers.
