I nope this weekly column brings you informative and interesting news from the Village of Hampton. This week has been a busy one. It was "Thinking Week" for the Scouts and Guides. Many of the children wore their uniforms to school. On Tuesday the Brownies had a birthday party for their founders Lord and Lady Baden Baden Powell. Guiding around the world was discussed. The story of the starting of Scouts and Guides was shared. Songs and games were also part of the fun. A candled cupcake was had by everyone. On Wednesday the Beavers Beavers had a Tail Celebration. V-, ■ X/ /• V '-. What a difference a year makes! The lower photo shows conditions at the Hampton Hampton Mill pond almost one year ago during a spring flood. The upper photo shows the roadway once the new bridge had been completed in the fall. Approximately 75 family ana friends attended. White Tail Beavers received their Lighting Bolts. Blue Tails were given dark brown beaver beaver badges and Brown Tails fawn coloured. A meeting is set for the 25th for the planning planning of the Summer Beaver- ee. Ladies exercise classes take place every Wednesday .9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the C.E. Wing of the church. We will have a new qualified Y.W.C.A. instructor starting starting this week. We are glad to have her with us. Our streets were quiet on Friday because there were no school buses rolling by. All levels of students had the day off. A reminder that Hampton Jr. Public School will he skating at the Darlington Darlington Arena on Monday, March 4th from 1:30 to 3:00. Speaking of the lads and lasses, again the Youth Group met in Oshawa for a bowling bash. High Scores were Mr. Fetchison 235 and Les Hambly 205. Afterwards they enjoyed pizza and pop. A special thanks to the parents parents who helped out. Beautiful music filled the ears of Harold and Helen Balson when they attended the sold-out performance of Kiri Ta Kanawa at the Roy Thomson Hall. A speedy recovery is wished for Pete Baron from his friends in Hampton. Bowmanville Seniors Meet Bowmanville Seniors met at Lion's Centre Feb. 12. 1991. The meeting opened with Mrs. A. Coles singing several songs. Mr. and Mrs. R. Coombes then showed slides on their trip to Oberammergau, Passion Passion Play, June of last year. They commentated on the beautiful places they visited and had a display of their souvenirs ' they brought home. Mrs. A. Coles then sang more lovely songs accompanied accompanied by Mrs. J. Rice. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Clarke, Queen St., returned to Bowmanville Bowmanville after a two-week vacation in Venice, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico. While there they visited Mr. Clarke's sister J.L. Roenigk, Mr. and Mrs. Roenigk are spending two months at the Harbour Lights Trailer Camp, Venice, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Clarke made the trip to Venice and the return trip by air travel. There was a large attendance attendance at the World Day of Prayer Youth Service held in Trinity United Church on Monday evening.
