The teams battled to a 3-3 tie, as both clubs went to the long ball to count most of their runs. Jo-An Pittman and Delores Da- vey each blasted circuit shots for the seniors, with Karen White rapping a three-bagger. Irene Reyen- ga cracked a homerun for the Juveniles, with catcher catcher Lenore Smith, one of the players traded for the night, notching a double. FLASHBACK -- 10 YEARS AGO -- The first tournament of the season was held at the Bowmanville Bowmanville Lawn Bowling Club. Winners of the Fred Cole Memorial Trophy as top bowlers of the tournament were Clarence Oke (skip) and Merv Brock (lead). In second place were Harold Bennett (skip) and Stuart Stuart Carson (lead). In the Street Stock class, Andy Warbutton, of Oshawa, Ontario, blasted around the track and captured captured the feature race and two of the heats as well. In second.place in the feature Street Stock race was Rod Marshall, of Cavan, and in third place was Fred Shep- stone, of Port Perry. Bowmanville Kids Capture Lacrosse Title With Thrilling 6-5 Overtime Win by Harold Hoar The season came to a dramatic dramatic and most satisfying conclusion for 12 Bowmanville Bowmanville area lacrosse players, as they won the platinum championship on June 22 to earn top.honours as the best Whitby Minor Lacrosse Novice Novice House League team. The team's presence in this championship game was the result of a second place regular season finish with a 5-1-1 record and a 3-0 playoff record. The playoff round began for the Kinsmen on June 14 against thé OHEU Local 1000. The Kinsmen won this first game 10-4, with seven of the eight runners scoring goals. Scoring for the Kinsmen Kinsmen were: Ian Gleason, Ryan Bruce and Stephen Hoar with two each and singles singles going to Ian Sinclair, Jesse Halik, Mike Semeniuk and Joel Tymchuk. The second playoff game was against the Brooklin Redmen. In this game, the Kinsmen outscored the Red- men 12-4, with Andrew Smale turning in a one-man performance of six goals, with Stephen Hoar adding two and singles going to Ian Gleason, Mike Semeniuk, Ryan Bruce and Ian Sinclair. In the Kinsmen's third game, Bill Kift replaced our regular season goalie, Mark Hoar, and in his first-ever game as a lacrosse goalie played extremely well and helped the team beat the Whitby Steel Hawks 12-5.
