An excellent crowd attended. The men's club conducted the service. Dr. Mac Freeman our speaker speaker read the parable of the sower. He spoke on learning and listening which I am sure Welcome correspondent will tell of. Fruit brea'ds, coffee coffee and cold drinks were served. I understand that the Welcome congregation were having a picnic afterward afterward with Dr. amd Mrs. Freeman. Some of the recent news that I seem to have missed follows: Mrs. Edna Morris came home .from the hospital a week ago and is slowly improving. improving. She had skin grafts on her leg. Gary Morris goes to Toronto Toronto for an operation this week. Sorry to hear that Mrs. Mildred Wilson had a heart attack last week and is improving. improving. Mr. and Mrs. Nick Long, Rochester N.Y. spent a few days with her mother Mrs. Lewko recently. Mrs. Fern Thertell attended attended the graduation of her grandchildren recently in Oshawa when Michelle Evans and Mark Evans graduated. Mark into grade 12 and he also won the Citizenship Citizenship Terry Fox award and Michelle into grade 11. Nancy and Claude Caron and girls, Natalie and Jennifer, Jennifer, have been spending a few days at Walkers. On Sunday Matthew and Brian Walker, grandsons were spending a holiday with Walkers also. Claude Caron has been transferred from Labrador to Downsview. The seniors are planning to go to Lindsay on July 17 to a matinee and dinner. Seven tables of euchre and six at U.N.O. were played. Mrs. Irene Beatty spent the past week in Oakville with Doris and Andrew. They came home for the week-end. Congratulations are extended extended to the Peacock family on the birth of another son, David Samuel, son of Mark and Linda Peacock, grandson grandson for Jackson and Susan Peacock. They live in Orangeville. Irene Beatty, Doris Gun- by and Andrew had dinner with the Burton's Saturday evening. Ken and Bertha Trew, Susan and Jackson Peacock took in the show in Lindsay Friday evening. On Sunday, callers at Irene Beatty's were James Burton, Ken and Bertha Trew, Beatrice Rowcliff, Maty Trew, Marlene Gregory Gregory and Leighanne Austin, Shirley and Justin. In the evening Mary Trew, Bea Rowcliff and Irene were with the Yarema family for dinner. Joyce and Elmer Fowler spent some time at the houseboat this weekend. Some of the callers here were Shirley McIntosh, Susan Susan Peacock, Joyce, Beryl, and Suzanne, Inez Mercer, and others during the week. Mr. and Mrs. H. Hodgins are on holiday but plan to stay around home. Her brother Michael Sinnott has recently moved to Port Hope and will teach at Trinity College School. G.M. Reports 12% Increase During June General Motors of Canada Canada dealers reported a 12.0 per cent increase in sales for the month of June. A total of 52,691 vehicles were sold, up from 47,031 delivered in the same month last year, reported Michael Erdman, vice president of marketing. For the first six months of the 1991 calendar year, combined passenger car and truck sales totalled 238,945 units. This is a slight decrease decrease of 4.8 per cent from 251,040 sold in the same period period last year. Classic Car Owners Enjoy Trip to Hastings Area Many of the area's antique and classic car buffs enjoyed enjoyed a drive to Hastings on Saturday. About 34 of the vehicles participated in the outing which concluded with a picnic at the Holiday Pines Trailer Park on the Trent canal system, near Hastings.
