Nominated are Courticc resident Darlene Matyczak, Hampton resident Hubcrtha Van Wees and Margaret Rodgers Rodgers who works at the Visual Arts Centre of the Town of Newcastle. Ms Matyczak was nominated nominated for her involvement in community service, while Ms Van Wees and Ms Rodgers have been nominated for their commitment to the arts. SERVICES OF REMEMBRANCE - On Sunday, November November 10, at two p.m., there will be a ceremony of remembrance at the Orono Cenotaph. The parade to the Cenotaph forms at 1:30. The following Remembrance Day services will all be held on Monday, November 11: There will be a service at the Bowmanville Cenotaph on Temperance St., alongside the Town Hall at 11 a.m. At the same time, there will be memorial services at Newcastle Village Cenotaph and at the Newton- ville Cenotaph. There is also a remembrance Memorial Service Service at St. Joseph's Church, commencing at 11. We note that, for many, November 11 is not a statutory holiday. So, some folks won't be able to attend the services on Monday. Let's hope the federal government decides to reinstate the November November 11th statutory holiday so that Remembrance Day gets the attention it deserves.
