The Canadian Statesman "Leakage Detected at Laidlaw Landfill Landfill Site, by Laura Richards - March 31,1993. Would the Laidlaw people have acknowledged a leak if a rumour had not? How would we have been given notice of a leak if rumors had not been invented? How many other leaks have been covered by garbage? So they found one spot. Who is to say that a hundred or a million more are not there in the same dump waiting waiting to surprise someone? How many are going into. Graham Creek not seen? Why wasn't a sample taken? Was it too hot to handle? Last year's leachate collector system, system, in my opinion, was not put around and under where liquid usually usually collects; eavestroughs work poorly at the ridge-cap of a roof. Why is Mr. Adams surprised? How many times have the problems been pointed out to him? How many people have repeatedly been told about the problem? For how many years have we said NO to this location? location? There's too little concern for good land, for history, for ecology. There arc too many guesses and too little knowledge.
