Now if we could just have 12 more like it. I know, it's a little farfetched, farfetched, but life wouldn't be the same without our hopes and dreams. The First Hampton Sea Scouts picked the right time for an outing. The eight young men and their supervisors supervisors spent their weekend travelling the waterways on a houseboat. They started at Bridgenorth. Their destination, destination, the Peterborough lift locks. The Scouts left for their journey on Thursday and all arrived home safely on Sunday. Of course, they were in excellent hands. Leader Fred Ford has trained in navigation and safety. The houseboat trip has become an annual annual event. It provides a wonderful learning environment packed with lots of fun. What better way to create lasting memories! Wednesday's Euchre card party had some fine results. Ruth Farrow had the highest of 82. Doreen Fcrgu- sori and Ruth Tink tied for second with scores of 79. Next was Art Compton with 77. These were closely closely followed by Fred Watson with 76. The night's Most Honest Player was Jessie Edwards. Ruth Tink had the Most Lone Hands with five. No one won the Special. The Draw winners were Ace Richards, Muriel Butson, Vema Robinson and Alvin Mann. Students for Hampton Junior Public Public School enjoyed an all day Track and Field last week. This was held at the M.J. Hobbs fields. The V.I.P. (Values, Influences, Peers) program was its usual success. A special V.I.P. Graduation will be held Wednesday, June 16th. at 7:30 p.m. A sure sign that summer is here is ' the Joint United Church Services. Hampton will host for Sunday, June 20th and 27th and July 4. Eldad will have the Services for July 11,18 and 25. Zion will host the month of August. August. Eldad's is held July 5th to 9th. Hampton's will be July 12-16. The reason for this early notice is that volunteer leaders and helpers are needed. Strawberry Short Cake and Sundaes will be served. There will be a Strawberry Baking Contest. All entrants must be in for noon that day. The entries will be auctioned off a little later. A Pie Eating Eating contest is set for 2:00 p.m. There will be horse drawn wagon rides throughout the day. A portion of the proceeds will go to Cystic Fibrosis research. There is a dance planned for the young people of Hampton. Ages 11 to 15 are allowed. This will be held on Friday, June 18th from 7:30 to 11:00 p.m. The tunes will be a rockin : at the Hampton Community Centre. A Door Prize is to be won. Hampton Women's Institute The ladies of the Hampton Women's Women's Institute met on Tuesday, June 8th at the home of Grace Chant. An informal meeting, began at 1:30 p.m. We had the opportunity to look over the great pictures and the cards we received received at our Victorian Tea. Marg Hall read the Treasurer's Report prepared prepared by Eva Naef. A discussion of the W.I. Orono Fair display was held. Six dozen cookies will be needed for the booth. Betty Kuycr and Michelle Balson volunteered to sit in the booth on the Saturday from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. The Hampton W.I. have been asked to do their "Fashion Show" at the W.I. Convention on Friday, October 22nd. It will be held at the Howard Johnson this year. The final discussion of the "plaque" were had. The Hampton W.I. will erect a plaque in lieu of the red maple that was donated by them. This tree was planted by the pond. This ceremony will be held on Saturday, Saturday, July 17th at 10:00 a.m. by the church. This date is the actual Hampton Hampton W.I. 90th anniversary. Everyone is welcome to attend. New Slate of Officers Named For Newcastle Block Parents At the Annual meeting held on June 1st, the Town of Newcastle Block Parents elected their 1993- 1994 officers. The Central Committee Committee Members arc Carol Barraball, Central Committee Chairman, Dawn Larmcr, Records Chairman, Carol Mason, Secretary and Cathy Klaukc, Treasurer. The Standing Committees' members arc Colleen Grocnevcld and Teresa Jeronimo, Education, Kathy Hisson, Road Signs and Louise Aa- sen, Publicity. The Block Parents will be doing their major fundraising this year at the Bowmanville Kinsmen Carnival from June 24 to 27. Block Parents will be hosting a "Ring Toss" Booth and arc currently recruiting members to volunteer time. Happenings from Elizabethville By Edna Thickson We had our Women's Institute meeting on Tuesday last week at Dorothy's House. It was Betty Elliott's Elliott's group as she is convenor for Resolutions. About a dozen members attended. After the singing of the Ode and the Mary Stewart Collect the roll call was taken. It was a memory of the past. Several spoke on when they first attended school and mentioned some teachers they had. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved, The secretary secretary read several notes on things coming up. Several spoke about the loonies that they are asking for, to buy or build a new place for meetings meetings of the Federation W.I.A. Betty took over the program and had planned a tour of Dorothy's House which was enjoyed by those who went around and upstairs, to see, and we could get outside to the farm. It was unfortunate that it was raining. Strawberry and Cherry Angle cake was served with tea, Our next meeting meeting is September 7th. PÂ.0 Edna Thickson On Saturday evening the two who won tickets to the Teen Pro Wrestler's Wrestler's competitions for the Whippcr Watson Memorial Cup attended the 4H Calf Club Members Hold Judging Session When we all arrived at Penny's house. Sara started the meeting and Scott read the minutes then Penny told us that we were going to go around back and judge cows. We all ventured out behind Penny's bam. We judged the cows and after Jeff said his official placing. We talked about how we would judge the cows if they had calves. We all assembled in front of Penny's bam and Jeff showed us the different ways to trim and cut his 4-H calf for showmanship at a fair. After everybody had a turn to trim part of Jeff's calf we assembled assembled in Penny's garage to talk about our next meeting. It's at Gerry Cornish's Cornish's house, at 7:30 - 9:00. Sorry to hear that Clara Sheppard was taken to hospital last week and had to go to a rest home today as she isn't fit to go home. Fern Thcrtell is home again but won't be going on our bus trip. Mrs. Lewko had her daughter Anne Long visit from Thursday until Sunday. She brought her daughter Kathy Peters, and husband .Bill Peters, Peters, and their two daughters, Erin and Kathy, whom Mrs. Lewko hadn't seen. Anne lives in Rochester and Peters Peters live in Texas. The daughters arc 4 1/2 and 21/2 years old. On Sunday the Garden Hill Sunday Sunday school held their anniversary "Two Foundations". Little Charlene Bailey sang Jesus Love Me. Alter the opening scripture and prayer, the first lesson was read by Lesley Sherman. The children's minute minute was by Faye Kennedy about two houses, one built on sand and one on rock and how the wind blew, and the one on sand flew all over, but the other other one O.K. Another lesson was read by Barbie Sherman. The Sunday School sang a couple of numbers. We sang the Lord's prayer. Susan Peacock had a story with actions about the two houses. Kevin Embury sang a solo, All things bright and beautiful. The Sunday School awards and promotions were given out by Rose McMurray and Faye Kennedy. A duct was played by Karen Harris and Betty Taylor on flute. After the program program we went to the basement and had hot dogs, coffee and juices, cake 1 and ice-cream which was enjoyed by all. Next Sunday is Elizabethville anniversary anniversary at 3 o'clock. Our U.C.W. meeting is at Ken and Bertha Trews home tomorrow. We arc having a strawberry supper supper June 25 at Garden Hill church. Some of the College students seem to be getting jobs here and there. Jf PATRICK G.
