On November 17, they.will play Richmond Hill at the Newcastle Memorial Arena. The second game will be held at die Darlington Sports Centre on November 20, with Markham •j providing the opposition. Both games will be played at 8:00 p.m. V McGIRT BEATS RUPA -- Bowmanvillc boxer Nick Rupa put up a gallant effort, but Buddy McGirt was awarded a unanimous decision following their welterweight fight on November 2 in Atlantic City. It was the first fight for McGirt since losing his world title to Pemel Whitaker, and then undergoing shoulder surgery. He proved that he is still one of the top welterweights in the world. Nick's record dropped to 20-3-2 as a professional. IMHMMIII VOLLEYBALL EXHIBITION AT CLARKE -- Clarke High School graduate Heather Sawyer will be returning to the school in January as part . of a volleyball exhibition. She is currently coaching the University of '3 Regina women's team, and will be bringing them to the school the first •; week of January to put on a five-day clinic. On January 5,'an exhibition game between her team and the varsity team from Queen's University is < planned. Janice Rickard, who graduated from Clarke last year, is one of only three freshmen to make the Queen's team this year. It should provide for an entertaining evening. ONE STEP CLOSER -- Paul Murdoch continues to make strides in his quest to represent Ontario at the National Karate Championships slated for May of 1994 in Alberta. At a recent Grand Prix event held in Belleville, he returned home with a gold and silver medal. The top three in both Kata and fighting will be selected for the- team, and following the Belleville V competition, Paul was first in Kata, and in the top three in fighting. The next Grand Prix event for the 14-year-old grade nine student at Bowmanvillc High School will be in March in Mississauga. EAGLES ON THE ROAD -- There will be no home game for the Bowmanvillc Eagles this Sunday night, as they embark on a two-game road trip. Saturday, they will visit Bobcaygeon, while on Sunday, they will travel to Lakefield. Their next home game in on Tuesday, November 16, against Lakefield. Game time for that one is 8:30 p.m. ••••••■•■••• BOBBY ORR SKATE -- The Annual Bobby Orr Celebrity Skate for Easter Seals will be held on Sunday, November 28, at Maple Leaf Gardens. The Boston Bruins great, along other sports, media and entertainment celebrities will be on hand. You will also get the opportunity to skate along with some of your favorite Toronto Maple Leafs. All of the money raised will be donated to Easter Seals. So, lace up your skates and skate for those who can't. Consider that on Sunday night, against the league-leading Uxbridge Bruins, manager Mike Laing and coach Mark Watson tried a couple of different experiments. The chemistry, as it turned out, produced a much-needed win. Bowmanvillc, perhaps playing thdir most inspired game of the season season to date, emerged with a hard- fought 6-5 victory in an entertaining game of Jr. C hockey on Sunday night at the Recreation Complex. It was Bowmanville's third win in seven outings this year. And the catalyst behind the deserving deserving win came from a couple of unlikely sources. Sixteen-year-old goaltender Barry Barry Crawford made his debut with Bowmanvillc after spending the past couple of weeks practising with tie. team.
