Fortunately, we have many events coming up in the next few weeks to distract us, and Christmas holidays arc just around the comer. I think we all need the break! Two Wonderful Concerts The Ken Medema concerts arc over and gone, but they were just as good, if not better than we had expected. expected. He performed at DCHS in the afternoon, compliments of student council. Knox and Northumberland Christian Schools also attended this concert. The afternoon concert was especially geared towards students, and was enjoyed by all. Ken Medema sure had us on our feet and moving! The evening performance was held at Rchoboth Christian Reformed Church in Bowmanville. Quite a few Durham students attended this concert concert also, as well as parents, teachers, and supporters of DCHS. Although this audience wasn't quite as wild as the one with the students, we didn't enjoy it any less. Ken Medema performed performed a medley of songs focusing on Mary, the mother of Jesus, which was inspiring, and at times, hilarious. A highlight of both performances was when Ken Medema composed songs on the spot, based on stories from the audience. The theme was "Your Most Memorable Christmas". Stories ranged from a first Christmas in a new country to getting bunny slippers as a Christmas present. He even performed a song for us about Christmas Banquet, which is coming up this week. We were amazed at his talent for composing songs without prior notice. Ken Medema has incredible talent musically. Not only as an amazing singer, composer, and pianist, but because because he is blind. He has certainly overcome this handicap to use his God-given talent for music. He lives in San Francisco, but tours the continent continent singing in churches, halls, and schools. We were glad Ken Medema could come to Bowmanville and especially that he could do two performances. Both were funny, moving and lots of fun! We're looking forward to seeing more of litis talented musician in the future. Do you remember the jingle that begins "I wish I were an Oscar Mayer wiener." Well, the company responsible for that jingle sent its wienermobiie to Graham's IGA in Bowmanville on Friday afternoon. Robin Gelfenbien of Connecticut and Jason Clark from Florida were at the helm. The duo are travelling across North America, promoting the products of the Oscar Mayer Company, which is based in Wisconsin. Wisconsin. IGA stores in Canada are the first stores to stock the Oscar Mayer products, including the famous wieners. Robin and Jason were handing out whistles on Friday afternoon to old and young alike. Some folks even went away tweeting on their whistles. 1993 Olds Cutlass Supreme. White, loaded, 25,000 km. S20.90Q. 1993 Cavalier It. Teal, air, auto, 24,000 km.
