The multi-media campaign, "He's got a pacemaker. She's got a grandfather," grandfather," will be released nationally January, January, 1994, one month prior to February, February, Heart and Stroke Month. MacLaren: Lintas was responsible for campaign development and execution. In developing a new advertising strategy ("Don't Wait to Read It In The Papers" recently finished, its four year run), the Heart and Stroke Foundation Foundation and MacLaren: Lintas, did intensive intensive market research across the country. Key research learning highlighted highlighted three factors: the target group had to be expanded from 55+ to 45+; a dual message of hope and urgency had to be communicated; and, consumers consumers responded well as to how their donations contribute to medical breakthroughs, breakthroughs, e.g. the pacemaker. Various creative concepts were proposed to two target markets: consumers consumers from 40 to 55 and 55+. The creative concepts were also shown to the Foundation's own volunteer can vasser force in major Canadian cities. "During the market research, the common motivators were: the message message had to be relevant to consumers, both young and old; and, the message had to be positive and uplifting, and reflect the Foundation's research success success factor," said Jeff Harvey, Account Account Director, MacLaren: Lintas. All components of the campaign (radio, TV, print) will break January, 1994. Advertising airtime and space is donated free of charge through the generosity of the media. "We couldn't generate the awareness awareness we do without this support," says Rip Gauthier, volunteer Vice President President of Communications Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. The Heart and Stroke Foundatipn of Ontario is a community-based volunteer volunteer organization whose mission is to reduce the risk of premature death and disability from heart disease and stroke by raising funds for research and health promotion. The annual Ontario Builder Forum, Forum, which has become the "must- attend" conference for Ontario's home building industry, is proving as popular as ever this year. To be held on January 12-13 (Wednesday and Thursday) at the Toronto Toronto Airport Hilton hotel, the forum already has 300 registered delegates and the 30 trade show booths have been fully booked. There will be as many as 80 speakers at the two-day event which has four sessions running running at the same time. Additional delegates are expected to pre-register or to register at the door.
