Davis looks to Peterborough, Bowmanville and Port Hope as being being the big rivalries this year, "It's always challenging to play against people you know," said the Bcwdlcy resident. Ron Davis, who coached the team for four years in the late 1980's, will once again return to the helm of the senior baseball club. Davis will get his first opportunity opportunity to see the talent he has at his disposal disposal when Kendal hosts Little Britain Britain in the home opener this Sunday at Harvey Jackson Memorial Park. Game time is 1:00 p.m. During Davis' previous four-year span, he led the team to the All- Ontario 'A' finals against Leaside. He will try to conjure up some of that magic again this September, when Kendal hosts the provincial 'D' championships on Labour Day weekend. "Everybody is going to get a chance to show me what they've got before the All-Ontarios," said Davis following a Sunday practice. But, when it comes to crunch time, it will come down to who is giving me their best." It will be the second year in a row that Kendal has hosted the provincial provincial finals. Last year, they advanced advanced to the semi-finals before being being ousted by Tillsonburg. New Lowell then beat Tillson- burg in the finals to claim the provincial provincial title. Two years ago, Kendal qualified for the provincial championships that were held in Courtright New Lowell eliminated them in the semifinals semifinals of that tournament. Kendal are coming off a successful successful year in the BOB A, posting a 15- 9 record last season, which placed them fourth in the 13-team league. peaking in time for the provincial championships in September, Davis will be approaching this season a little little differently than most coaches. "I want to make sure everybody is healthy at the end of the season, and not take any chances with injuries/' injuries/' he said. "We have a lot of good ball players here. If we get some pitching, pitching, we'll do all right." Kendal will play four games against teams in the Eastern Division, Division, and two against each of the clubs in the West for a 28-game schedule.
