This year's Horse Club has approximately 20 members. We appreciate appreciate and would like to thank the Sampson family for their hospitality and the use of Trillium Stables. Our leaders this year are Shelley Miche, Phyllis Dewell, Suzanne Ashby and Shelley Boughen. To start off the night we held elections. elections. The following people were elected to office; President - Buffy Rodgers, Vice-President - Elizabeth Millson, Secretary - Natalie Price and Reporter Mclonie Allin. We then watched a film on foaling. We learned what should be done while a mare's giving birth. At this meeting we also picked a "Go For the Gold" team. The following following four people will be representing our club at the "Go For the Gold" on August 4th, 1994, Leah McRoberts, Tanya Allin, Stephen Found and Buffy Buffy Rodgers. "Go For the Gold" is a competition where 4H Clubs from Durham compete against each other. They must have their hands and minds quick and ready to answer questions related to agriculture. Meeting Date, June 2,1994 We were fortunate to have Dr. Green, the veterinarian from the Newcastle Vet Clinic located in the' newly renovated Post Office, as guest speaker. He spoke about the proper health care for horses relating to respiratory, respiratory, hooves, teeth, heart, and stomach. We discussed confirmation and judging with Shelley Miehe. Don't forget the Annual Judging Competition held at the Orono Fair . grounds on July 20,1994. Our next meeting will be held August August 31, 1994 at 10:00 a.m. at Batter- . wood Stables in Welcome. Melonie Allin 4-II Press Reporter Toiler* The driver of this burned-out 1988 GMC S15 pickup was headed eastbound on Hwy. 401 near New- tonville last Friday afternoon when his vehicle caught fire. He managed to pull over safely onto the shoulder and escape the spreading fire. Fire crews responded and the damage is estimated at $2,000.
