They are: Adil Popatia, Timm and Sheilah Jenkins, Kathy and John Luxon, Mary and Dave Felstead and Paul Snell. The Newcastle Optimist Club is known for the activities it provides for the young people of Newcastle Newcastle Village and area. Duffield VE3FJD Every year during the last weekend weekend of June, the amateur radio community community all over North America is invited invited to test its equipment for use in case of a national emergency (as in Bosnia these days). Last year at this time, many groups in the Durham region region competed in this national contest contest to get the most Ham radio contacts, contacts, world wide, within a 24 hour time frame using only field site based equipment. During the 1993 Field Day, The Durham region QRP group operated from 2 Km east of Tyrone using equipment that transmits less power than the average household flash light (QRP stands for low power) and came 4th in all of Canada. Contacts were made all over North America, and even into Europe, Russia and Japan Japan using only five watts of power and morse code. On June 25-26, 1994 this group will try to improve their standing. They will be operating from the same site, and invite any interested Ham to contact the group most Wednesdays on thè Durham Region Net VE3QDR on 3.535 MHz (CW) at 8:00 p.m., or 3.75 MHz (SSB) at 8:30 p.m. PITCH-IN CANADA!
