The Independent, Canadian Statesman Weekender, Bowmanville, Saturday, June 25,1994 9 Racing Victory Enjoyed By MacDonald-Cadieux For BARC's Club Race at Mos- port Park this past weekend, the MacDonald-Cadieux racing team took last year's 1990 GM Good- wrench/Pizza Pizza Camaro (now a show car) out for some fun. Terry MacDonald-Cadieux had a great qualifying run in SSGS (Showroom Stock Grand Sports Class). She placed her GM Good- wrench/Pizza Pizza Camaro on the pole position for the race. As the green flag dropped, Mac- Baker Construction Wins Home Opener The Darlington Youth soccer league's under-10 CSL team, sponsored sponsored by Baker Construction, won its home opener against West Rouge 10-1. Darlington had its way with West Rouge, scoring six goals in the first half and four in the second. "The boys are really moving the ball around well. They look for the. open player and make the most of their chances," said coach Gary Ne- misz. West Rouge did manage a goal in the second half, but it was too late to spark a comeback. The game held a week earlier, in Ajax, was played in hurricane-type winds. Darlington won the toss and Chose to put the wind at their backs in the first half. Speed and good passing put Darlington Darlington up early in the first half. Between Between the wind and a stingy defence, defence, Ajax was left with few chances. Darlington scored four times in the first half and hoped it would be enough once Ajax put the wind at their backs. Ajax put together a few good chances, but it was Darlington scoring scoring twice to end the game 6-0. To date, Darlington's record stands at three wins and one tie. Donald-Cadieux held off the Ford Mustang of Paul Massinger. "He was charging hard, but after a few laps, I couldn't even seem him in my mirror," commented MacDonald-Cadieux. MacDonald-Cadieux led the entire entire sprint race, pulling off some impressive impressive lap times of 1:39.87, a personal personal best for her. For Sunday's one hour MSC150, MacDonald-Cadieux drove with last year's teammate, Trisha Hessinger. Having a fun/racing qualifying session, session, MacDonald-Cadieux found herself starting 14th on the grid. It didn't take her long to start passing vehicles. Twenty-five minutes into the race, a full course yellow came out. MacDonald-Cadieux had worked herself up into second place in Class, fifth overall. After the driver change, Hessing- er had some work to do. She now found herself in 10th. She continued to charge hard, passing cars each lap. When it was all over, the team was fourth in its class. After a technical technical inspection, it was determined that the first place vehicle was entered entered illegally, and placed in another class, giving the two-woman team a third place finish. MacDonald-Cadieux had one more sprint race. Three laps into the race, she was battling a Mustang, when another vehicle's engine let go, putting oil everywhere. As MacDonald- Cadieux carefully took her Good- wrench/Pizza Pizza Camaro around the oil spill, another Camaro took her on the inside. The very next lap, the Mustang spun in the oil, just missing the wall. • As the Goodwrench/Pizza Pizza Camaro Camaro came around that same comer, it got sideways, but MacDonald- Cadieux was able to save it. She went cxi to win the race. "This was the most fun I've had in a long time," she said. Boys' Slo Pitch League Team W L T Pts.
