Another weekly event each Wednesday afternoon and evening is Shuffleboard played in the Black- stock arena. If possible come out to either watch or enjoy a game. Leanna Bryans celebrated her 11th birthday with a party of friends. She was part of another party on Father's Father's Day with the Black and Bryans families at the Red Lobster, Oshawa. Also attending the party were her great grandparents Babe and Wilf Brown of Oshawa. Leanna and great grandma Babe share the same birth- date. Happy birthday, Leanna. On Sunday morning a fine congregation congregation attended the outdoor service of the combined Blackstock and Nestle- ton United Churches held at the beautiful beautiful home of Roy and Linda Brad- bum. Blackstock Truck And Tractor Pull This Week-end The Village of Blackstock will be the scene of much noise, excitement and competition on Friday and Saturday Saturday evenings, July 8 and 9 at the fairgrounds fairgrounds in the centre of town. Starting Starting at 7 p.m. will be the annual Tractor and Truck Pull when many tractors and trucks will be hitched to Don Alves' "Pulling Machine" to vie for the many prizes. Classes on Friday evening will be stock and superstock 4 x 4's, noncircuit noncircuit tractors, classes of heavy prostock prostock tractors, and the noisy modified 2-wheel drive trucks. The evening will conclude with the colourful highway highway tractors. Saturday evening's program will feature the modified 4 x 4's, the vintage vintage classes, the light pro-stock, the stock tractors of various sizes, and the exciting modified tractors. During both evenings the M.C.'s Harold Wright and Harvey Graham will keep audience both entertained and informed with their colourful commentary. Admission for Friday evening is $7.00 adults and children under 12 years $2.00. Saturday evening rates are $6.00 and $2.00. V* 1 * tenons* Wilkins Picnic These youths are among 27 students who have signed on to do yard work through the Community Care program for seniors and disabled clients. They are ready and willing to mow, weed gardens, clean windows, trim hedges and generally make yard-work easier for those who qualify to have the work done through the program. Last year, 900 tasks were performed for 150 clients. This year, Community Care has been able to hire a student to coordinate the program. To enlist the help of a student, call 623-2261 to register. Rates are to be worked out according to the individual client. Janetville Firefighters Take First Out of Ten Teams on Saturday, June 11/94 and won first place. The various activities included included - Hose relay, Hose roll, Ladder Ladder race, Bucket race and Water Ball competition. This is an annual event that has taken place for at least the past ten years. This year there were 10 teams in competition. Those participating were Training Officer Daren Rogerson, Captain Mike Smith, Firefighters Cliff Wright, Jamie Farquaharson, Jason Kay, Kevin Antoniak and Wally Earle Jr. Mike, Cliff and Jamie are from our Yelverton community. The various volunteer Firemen provide a very useful service to our Township residents and disserve the full support of all our citizens for their dedication. Goderich, Grand Bend, Tillson- burg, Delhi, Oil Springs, St. Jacobs, Elora, Guelph, etc. We also called on Bob and Kate Cook who live near Oil Springs, Ontario. A nice break from daily routine. Sorry to learn of the passing last week of one of our more recent Yelverton Yelverton residents Mrs. Gwen Annibal. Sympathy is extended to her husband Bernard and daughters Bernice and Mary. Congratulations and Best Wishes to Linda and Ralph Pfoh of Yelverton Yelverton who are observing their 25th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, June 28th.
