The Bank of Montreal Museum in Montreal is lending some of its banks to the museum this month for an exhibit of antique and collectable banks. Sr. Dairy Club Judges Cattle at Barkey Farm The fourth meeting of the Senior Dairy Club was held on July 12, 1994 at Frank Barkey's Farm near Enfield. Carolyn Barkey opened the meeting meeting with the 4-H Pledge. We started off in the bam judging a class of cattle cattle that had been prepared by the Bar- key's. Our leader Dave Tamblyn opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge. Roll call was taken. Our other leader Eric Bowman introduced us to Don Rickard. Don grows pedigreed seed. The farm is named Ceresmore, an Italian word which means "Goddess of Agriculture." Agriculture." We toured the barley, oat and bean fields. The remainder of the meeting was spent with an excellent demonstration demonstration of how to lead cattle by Glenn Barkey. We were fortunate to have such an experienced showman give us some tips. We all enjoyed fruit juice and homemade cookies served by Mrs. Barkey. Thank-you to the Barkey family for an excellent learning experience. Press Reporter Aaron Bowman Bowmanville Rotary Club 1924 -1994 The Bowmanville Rotary Club was chartered on January 11,1924, with 12 members of the local community: Mr. Tom Holgate was the club's first president. Nowadays, more than 1,176,083 service-minded men and women belong to 26,484 Rotary Clubs in 149 countries. There is a common thread that runs through the Rotary world and it is exemplified in the motto "Service Above Self". Through the dedicated efforts of our members and the generous support of people of this community, the Club has successfully completed and participated in many local projects in its 70 years of service. Some of these projects and the money spent include: 1924 - the first project was a bath house at the lake 1924 -1974 - a variety of community projects in excess of $85,000. 1974 -1984 - crippled children, splash pool, arena, handi-transit, Participation House, International Service $180,623. 1984 - 1993 - Memorial Hospital, Library, Museum, India Water Project, Camp for Disabled, Polio Plus, Senior Citizens, Youth Services $151,000. In addition, the Rotary Club is the local agent for Easter Seals in the Municipality of Clarington. The most recent project, our annual auction, netted $16,500.
