I t 2 The Clarington Independent, Bowmanville, Saturday, August 13,1994 Ribbon Cutting Officially Opens Met Mart Store in Bowmanville Mall Entries Sought For Juried Fine Arts Exhibition at Visual Art Centre Entry forms are now available for the Visual Arts Centre's annual Juried Fine Arts Exhibition. Over $1,000 will be given in awards for excellence in this annual competition competition for artists. The juror is Paul Bennett, former director of the Robert Robert McLaughlin Gallery, who is now retired and residing in Stratford. Forms should be sent to the Visual Visual Arts Centre by August 26 and works of art must be delivered to the centre by Thursday, September 1, at 8 p.m. Entries may be delivered to the VAC during office hours. The Visual Arts Centre is located in the Cream of Barley Mill, 143 Simpson Ave., Bowmanville. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday Saturday from noon to four p.m. Thursdays Thursdays from noon to eight p.m. and Sundays from one p.m. to four p.m. (Sunday hours are in effect only during exhibitions.) Exhibition forms will be sent to previous entrants. Call 623-5831 and leave an address for the mailing list. Durham East MPP Gord Mills and Clarington Mayor Diane Ham- re, along with Clarington Councillor Ann Dreslinski were on hand Wednesday morning for the opening of the Met Mart store in the Bowmanville Mall. They were joined by representatives of Met Mart, the store staff and eager shoppers for the ribbon-cutting which welcomed the newest member of the Bowmanville business commu nity. The new store has 30,000 square feet and will employ approximately approximately 50 people in merchandising and also the Pizza Mart.
