Richards Canadian tow truck history was made on Saturday afternoon by a three-woman towing team. Marion Hockney, of Bowman- ville; her daughter, Robin Doiron, of Oshawa; and Mary McCaskie, of Bancroft, took about nine minutes to assess and complete the tow-away of a simulated two-car accident. "One car was on its roof and one car had jack-knifed into it," McCaskie McCaskie said on Sunday afternoon. The team of three women and two tow trucks was judged on its time, safety and efficiency, McCaskie McCaskie noted. Wearing and utilizing proper safety equipment was part of the competition. They were competing at a meeting meeting of the Canadian Towing Society (Ontario Chapter) held at Oshawa's Holiday Inn. "We did not know what problem we were going to be faced with," said McCaskie, adding that the three of them had been sequestered while the "accident" was set up. "We used our own equipment and no one told us what to do," McCaskie noted. After the challenge, McCaskie said no one would tell them how the team placed. Awards were not presented presented until a banquet that evening. "They kept us in suspense during the banquet," she added.
