Choosing Healthy Lifestyles, the third annual Women's Health Issues Conference organized by the Nursing Education Committee of Oshawa General Hospital, in cooperation with die Durham Region Hcaldi Department Department and the Victorian Order of Nurses, will be held on Wednesday, October 5 at the Holiday Inn, Oshawa, from 8 am. - 4:30 p.m. This one-day conference is designed to heighten awareness of the major physical and mental health issues facing facing women of today and focus special special attention on the promotion of personal health and wellness. The keynote address entitled "Choosing Healthy Lifestyles" will feature Joseph Kcllcrstcin, a chiropractor chiropractor and naturopathic doctor, who will outline the connections between everyday notions of health, vitality, lifestyles and disease that will help participants understand and improve their own well being. A discussion on "Healthy Relationships" Relationships" with Sue Johanson of Sex With Sue, will wrap-up the conference conference as the final address. In this segment, segment, participants will look at what constitutes healthy, loving relationships relationships through a light-hearted look at the emotional and physical aspects of loving relationships. O tirer topics to be highli ghted throughout the day include cardiovascular cardiovascular disease in women; safety tips for women; the effects of sun on skin aging and the development of skin cancer; massage therapy; and tips on how to fix a bad day. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23RD BARBECUE TIME AT BANK OF MONTREAL - The Bank of Montreal in Bowmanville will be grilling up a storm to raise funds for the Memorial Hospital Equipment Drive. It's all part of the bank's employee charity called "Our People Fund." To date, the fund has donated more than $7.5 million to charities across Ontario. So, don't forget to drop by the bank for a burger. You'll be supporting the Hospital Equipment drive. RODEO COMES TO TOWN - The first big night for the Ontario Finals Rodeo takes place in Orono this evening, with a dance at eight p.m. featuring local group, Chaser, followed by Wayward. The rodeo competition is at one p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Ontario's finest rodeo performers will be competing in these events for the championship gold buckle. SAMAC ART FESTIVAL OPENS - The Oshawa Art Association is holding its Samac Art Festival September 23, 24 and 25 at Camp Samac, on Simcoe St. N„ Oshawa. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24TH ONTARIO FINALS RODEO -- The Orono fairgrounds is the setting for competition among Ontario's best rodeo performers. There are rodeo shows at one p.m. and six p.m. and a third show Sunday afternoon. Attractions include steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, calf roping, team roping, and bull riding. There's also an opportunity to purchase western gear from vendors at the rodeo's Western Mall. Tickets arc available at the fairgrounds.
