We then had a tour of the factory and heard how various items were made; Joyce and her" partner, Richard, demonstrated the machines used in production. Afterward we returned to Solina Hall, where President Margaret Ford (who was recovering from a recent car accident) called the meeting to order. order. Correspondence included various requests, as well as thank-you notes from the Vice family, Margaret Ford, and Jean and Bruce Taylor. The Ministry of Agriculture is preparing a strategic plan for agriculture agriculture in Durham Region. A meeting will be held in Pt. Perry on September September 28, and Donna Barkey will attend as our representative. The ninety-second Central Ontario Ontario Area convention will be held October October 21 and 22. Jean Taylor will be our delegate, with Dorothy Snowden as alternate. The Friendship Report was given by Marjorie Cryderman. Since our June meeting she has sent "Get- Well" cards to Eber Millson, Doreen Westlake, Jeff Conte, and Margaret Ford. A New Baby Congratulations card was sent to the Hinchey family, and a 40th Anniversary card to Jean and Bruce Taylor. Vi Ashton reported, in Jèan Taylor's Taylor's absence, that $500.00 was raised at the recent bake sale for the Pro-Life Elevator fund. Ontario Provincial Board member Vi Ashton reported on the August Board Meeting. The opening of the new F.W.I.O. office in Guelph, August August 21, was a gala event, with 700 attending. The first sod has been turned for the McDonald Institute. "Environment Friendly" books can be bought for $6 and re-sold for $8 as a fund-raiser. Some 1994 Christmas ball decorations are still available for $5.00. Vi mentioned how busy the summer has been, with the visit from A.C.W.W. President Valerie Fisher of Australia, who travelled across Canada to attend the F.W.I.C. conference conference in Truro, N.S. Vi drew our attention attention to the items for sale with regard regard to the W.l. Centennial. Help is needed for the Royal Winter Fair. We were advised to record and photograph photograph household items, keeping this record in a safe place, as insurance companies often require this in dealing dealing with theft claims. District Director Lois'Yellowlees had attended the District Executive meeting, and reported that $113.66 had been raised at the Orono Fair Tea Room. The Fun Fair will be held in the Hampton* Church C.E. Wing on October 12 at 1:30 p.m. with Providence Providence Shaw W.L hosting. There will be a Bake Table and a Country Store. Joyce Hancock donated 10% of the purchases made this evening at her Factory Store, a sum of $60, to the Solina W.L It was agreed that this be used to buy fabrics for the "fund- raising" quilt mentioned above. The meeting was then adjourned with the singing of "O Canada" followed followed by the Institute Grace. The West Group then served a delicious lunch, after which the East Group conducted the A.C.W.W.
