CHARLES BOWMAN (See page 3 lor details) A tradition that was started in 1990 continues to grow in popularity as people from all across Ontario and beyond converge on Downtown Bowmanville each Fall on the Saturday following the Thanksgiving weekend. Right in the centre of one of Ontario's oldest heritage towns - Bowmanville - a spectacular event takes place - the Annual Apple Festival and Craft Sale. This year, in response to the ever expanding expanding crowds, and with the support support of the Council of the Municipality of Clarington, the event will fill the Downtown Downtown area. King Street, both east and west of Temperance Street will be closed to provide provide a pedestrian mall, so that the many activities can be spread from Scugog Road to Division Street. Admission is also free. l i Ê: y 1 1 Dixieland Jazz Cats Entertain at Strawberry Social in July At the Strawberry Social sponsored by the Bowmanville Business Centre, the Dixieland Jazz Cats entertained while customers in the Downtown enjoyed fresh strawberry shortcake under the large marquee tent. Proceeds from the event in the amount of $736.00 were donated to Bowmanville Memorial Hospital.
