Regional Council -- Ward Three Bill Clarke One of the issues that concerns me deeply is the lack of activity centres to cater for the explosion of teenage energy energy we can expect in the very near future. There is very little in this ward to encourage creative activity such as I am going to propose. The planners have allowed mega sub-divisions to be built with no social social amenities what so ever . This must not happen again. We must move more of our tax dollars to Ward 3 for the benefit of all ages. If elected I shall advocate the creation creation of a citizens committee to work with the social services to investigate the feasibility of acquiring the "box" factory. It is available and reasonably priced. I foresee activities such as basket ball, floor hockey, gymnasium, senior citizens activity, the arts, baby clinic, etc. An indoor pool could be phased in to accommodate citizens and school children. It would create jobs and employment employment for local labour. I have already received enthusiastic enthusiastic offers to serve on this committee. It may be a dream but I believe in dreams. Believe in me and we will make it happen. We need creative activity activity in Ward 3. I have that energy and I have the time. I promise you full-time commitment, commitment, not part time. My desk in the town hall will be my workplace. Ann Dreslinski Randy Flint My name is Randy Flint and the reason I am running for the position of Ward Three Regional Councillor is because we have to attract industry 'to Clarington. I want to make sure ■that in the future your and my chil dren will be able to find work Here, in Clarington, and don't have to travel long distances every day or move, to find work somewhere else. We have to make Clarington attractive attractive for industry by keeping our taxes as low as possible. For example, example, many companies are leaving the Metro Toronto area because of high taxes. However, they are not relocating relocating to Clarington because our taxes arc way higher than those of the communities communities around us. We arc not competitive! competitive! This present Council hasn't done all it could to promote industry. On the contrary, by spending excessively it is sending the wrong signals, and makes us look like a bunch of spenders. spenders. The new Council will have to find a balance between residential and industrial industrial development, to keep residential residential taxes low. This present Council Council hasn't even started doing this. If elected, I will strive to bring this about, and also promote efficiency efficiency by privatizing municipal services. A new comprehensive comprehensive Official Plan has been completed to be considered by the incoming incoming council. In an effort to offset the lack of industrial/commcrcial development, development, an economic development office has been opened. In the coming years the major focus focus of the council should be the implementation implementation of the Official Plan. All aspects aspects of good municipal planning arc contained in the official plan -- economical, economical, environmental, recreational and cultural. A new council committed committed to the adherence of the Official Plan will ensure that this municipality will continue to be a great place to live, work and play. I would very much like to continue as your representative and I ask for your support on election day and throughout the next term of council. Our seniors deserve belter than that. I think that I have the vision and experience to lead the council in a professional and democratic way into the twenty first century. Reg Willatts Continued from Page 4 By simply moving the road to the south ot the school, this plan could be achieved to everyone's satisfaction. I believe all sports complexes should be run by Community Services in order for all to be governed by the same rules and regulations and primarily primarily provide time to local citizens and teams. Currently the GO train reaches Oslutwa for two daily trips, and after Christmas will be going to the Oslutwa Shopping Centre, then the Holiday Inn, and then empty train cars will be moved to the inside edge of Clarington and stored. I feel if the right council is elected, we can work to have additional track added into downtown so can receive service, as well as provide a storage area. If elected, I promise to work very hard for von, the citizens of Clarington.
