Page 8 The Clarington/Courtice Independent, Bowmanvillc, Saturday, April 11, 1998 $3 Million Reinvestment Helps Children Minister of Community and Social Services, Janet Eckcr, announced that the government is reinvesting an additional S3 million to help up to 1,000 families care for their sons and daughters with developmental developmental disabilities. "We made a commitment commitment to increase funding for community supports to do two things: to support families caring for a child or adult with a developmental developmental disability at home and to assist more people with developmental disabilities disabilities to live in their communities," said Ms. Ecker. Two million dollars will be spent to increase respite services for aging parents who have children with a developmental disability disability living with them. Respite may be provided in the family home or outside outside of the home and is important to help families take a break from caring for their son or daughter. One million dollars will be spent to serve more families through the Special Services at Home program.
