I(i the playoff round, the McPherson team lost their! first two games. The first game was won by the Oshawa T.P.A. team 5-3, with- McPherson goals going to Alexandra Slade, Miclielle Hodgson and Rosemary Quinlan. Assists going to Lesley Sinopoli, Colleen Bathe, Hodgson and Stade. In game two against the Oshàwa Crows, the McPherson team lost 4-1. The only McPherson goal was scored by Michelle Hodgson assisted by Courtney Hamilton. In game three, the McPherson team was able to get their momentum back and win the game 4-1 over the Oshawa Corky's team.. Competing in some of the toughest age and distance divisions, all four riders finished first in their divisions. Marina Mueller, riding out of Oshawa, won the 20 kilometer distance for 40- 49 year old women in a time of 2 hours, 53 minutes minutes and 57 seconds, while Martin Randall, of Courticc, took top spot in the same age division for men with a time of one hour, 27 minutes and 44 seconds. Amanda Kellett pounded out the grueling 40 kilometer open with a time of three hours, 22 minutes and 29 seconds. Jennifer Hinch clinched the under-20 women's 20 kilometer event with a time of 2 hours, 7 minutes and 12 seconds. Rounding out the field among the top finishers from the area were Mark Hodgins from Bowmanville, finishing third in the competitive under-20 male division, while the 40-49 male division, division, Steve Keane, Barney Kerr and Peter Morrison finished 4th, 5th and 7th respectively. The second second event is again to be held at the Bethany location location on the holiday Monday, May 18. The events arc put on by Alpha Racing, with Giant* Bicycle of Canada as the major sponsor. With many draw prizes and giveaways, riders in all age categories have an opportunity to win some great prizes. Giant Bicycle has contributed to two bikes worth over $3,500 to be won at the end of the season draws from all riders riders in events and among the top divisional finishers. finishers. Riding ages are varied for these events, with the youngest riders in the under 12 year old range, and the oldest are pushing 60 years. The races are marked by electronic time keeping, lunch,T-shirts for all riders and great spectator spectator viewing for all the events. As an added bonus, Alpha Racing has launched a new Thursday night fun ride series for the Bethany location. Starting on April 23, riders can hit the trails at 6:30 p.m. and ride until dusk. With a price of only $5.00 (or $50 for the entire summer), riders can continue to work in an off-road environment environment between events, or come out to try mountain mountain bike riding without any concern for competing against others. All the events are held off-road and feature a mix of single and double track, varied terrain and distances distances of 10, 20 and 40 kilometers. There is an excellent mix of fast track, twisty gnarly technical trail and heart pounding hills to challenge even the most serious riders. All events are sanctioned and insured by the Ontario Cycling Association. To arrive at the All-Ontario finals against Brampton, they had to beat out Peterborough, Ajax, and Barrie.
