Audrey Roscvcar and Evelyn Jibb enjoyed the week on board the Canadian Empress. There arc several opportunities opportunities for this type of holiday holiday out of Peterborough or Kingston. On Sunday, May 3, Tyrone News Reverend Norm Seli confirmed confirmed Luke and Jessica Brock into full membership membership in the United Church. On May 11, we were fortunate fortunate to have a visiting vocal choir from West Virginia. These talented grade nine and ten students have choir work as a requirement in their school. Many of the group also arc part of their bell choir and they presented several pieces to the very appreciative congregation. Sunday, May 18 we had as guest organist, Hclga Tilk. Thanks to Sandy Brittain for arranging the visits. Eric Trcwin, son of Will and Lucy Trcwin and Elliott Cross, son of Elizabeth and Paul Cross, were baptised into the church family on Sunday. It was interesting to note that Canadians sent 2,842,000 Campbell soup labels to World Mission to the Deaf in 1997. They arc used to purchase useful items for schools in the Caribbean. Our own church contributed over 500! Archibald Orchards and Winery held the first of a series of cooking demonstrations demonstrations last weekend. Derek is the grandson of Dick and Alma Rowan. Lorna is the granddaughter of Rena and Tom Potts. Those that have seen the flower garden of Dorothy and Jake Jacus in our village say it is comparable comparable to a Miniature Cullen Gardens. Congratulations arc in order. On June 6th the Enniskillen U.C.W. are having a Yard and Bake Sale and a Tea Room in the church basement. Please start saving your articles to make this sale a success. On Wednesday, June 10th there will be a Community Come and Go Barbecue at the Enniskillen School. Starting to serve at 5 o'clock until 8 p.m. There will be a children's raffle. The raffle prizes should be suitable for children. If people would like to donate towards the raffle, please call the school at 263-2970. The barbecue will offer sausages, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and soft drinks. Proceeds go to the school. Enniskillen and Tyrone Church Picnic is coming soon. Sunday, June 14th at 10:30 a.m. at the Enniskillen Conservation Area. Bring lawn chairs, games, ball gloves, plates and cutlery. Folks from Enniskillen will bring dessert, folks from Tyrone will bring first course. We will provide coffee, tea and cold drinks. Worship will begin at 10:30 and the fun will go on and on. You will always be welcome. Tyrone 4-H Report At 7:00 p.m. on May 4th, our first 4-H Heritage Meeting occurred. We got to know our new leader, Susan Plcasancc and our 4-H members. We then learned about the clothing the natives wore and what they. did. We then played a game and also made decorations called "God's Eyes" out of yarn and straws. We then chose our executive positions and ate the Johnny cake we made. Shirley is a reflexologist and she worked on Gerry Butterfield's feel to demonstrate many ways of relieving pain, exercising the body, the use of oils and many other interesting tips and suggestions to help all of us improve out health.
