"We hope for between 500 and 700. It depends a lot on the weather," said Judy Metcalf, festival coordinator. coordinator. The Everything Under the Sun arts festival will include story-telling, music, and dance. Refreshments will be available at the barbecue. There will be outdoor exhibits by 16 local artists, plus an opportunity for visitors to try their hands at sculptures, sketching, felt-making, print-making and pottery. An intriguing new craft being offered this year is a petunia dye workshop. Metcalf explains that participants participants will press petunia petals onto paper. The resulting transfer of colors from the flowers creates a work of art that is good enough to frame. Another new feature of the festival is the opening of a 1988 time capsule created created by children attending a future camp at the Visual Arts Centre. Metcalf says the festival's festival's musical line-up will begin around 10:45 a.m., with the Ganaraska Country Cloggers. The official opening is at 11:20, with Ojibway/Mohawk storytelling storytelling by Valerie King- Green following at 11:40. The afternoon line-up includes music by the band, Oracle, a group of students from Bowmanville High School; storytelling by George Blake; a concert by the folk group, Howlin' at the Moon and a three p.m. story-telling session by Valeric King-Green. Also taking place in the afternoon is a draw for tickets to the Stratford Festival and an original silkscreen print by David Gillespie. This year's festival has been made possible by the generosity of 11 local businesses businesses and individuals who have agreed to serve as sponsors and friends of the festival.
