Gerald and Shirley Brown were in attendance and the site of the old church according to Gerry is at the north-cast corner corner of St. George's Cemetery. Newcastle Ratepayers met last Thursday night, September 24 in the Lions Room of the Newcastle Community Hall. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. James Brownlee, -who celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday, in Crossroads Church, Newcastle. Special guests from Toronto, Kingston, Thornhill and special guests from the Chrysler executive, where Mr. Brownlee retired after 25 years. Also very attractive books of family histories! United Church On Sunday, September 27, at Newcastle United Church, flowers in the sanctuary sanctuary were from the funeral of Marion Fisher, wife of Reverend Melvin Fisher who was the minister at Newcastle United 1954 to 1960. Covenanting with the Sunday School teachers took place. Reverend David Chisling preached the sermon entitled "Great Signs of Hope". Vacation Bible School singers entertained after the service and coffee hour was enjoyed. Sacrament of Holy Communion will be observed on Sunday, October 4. The stewards thank all who participated in their car rally.
