Preston Toros Keep Busy The Clarington Minor Atom A Toros, sponsored by Preston Moving and Storage, have had a busy Lakcshore OMHA league schedule recently with games against Ajax, Cobourg, Uxbridge, Lindsay and Whitby. On October 17, the Preston Toros went to Ajax to challenge the Knights. The Toros skated to a hard fought 3-2 win. The line of Amber Ellis, Geoff Powell and Matt Meraw provided all of the Clarington offense in this game. Ellis scored two goals, Meraw notched a goal and an assist, and Powell chipped in with two assists. Goaltendcr Michael Harris played well to keep the Ajax attackers at bay. On October 18, the Preston the Movers Toros hosted the Cobourg Cougars. Stephen Thomas scored the other Clarington goal, while Tyler Young, Ryan Zavitz, and Pal Dwyer added assists. On October 25, the Toros travelled to Whitby to face the Warriors. Whitby opened up an early 2-0 lead before Andrew Neal narrowed the gap. He was set up by Brandon Doble and Graeme Kalijundic. The Warriors scored late in the first period period to restore their two goal lead. Early in the third period, period, Amber Ellis was sent into the clear by Kyle Perry and Ian Knox. In the third period, Ajax began to take full advantage of their bigger ice surface, applying nonstop pressure and enjoying a 7-1 margin in shots on goal. After participating in the Burlington tournament, "Roys Boys" continued their season on the road doing battle with Whitby's "A" squad.
