When her family moved to a farm at Enniskillen she joined her Mother there and continued to live with her Mother and both brothers, Richard of Enniskillen and Arthur of Yelverton. Annie was always a faithful church atlender. She spent the last years of her life at Victoria Manor and made many friends there with her pleasant pleasant personality and quiet ways, She enjoyed many visits visits from her nieces and nephews and many friends. Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. A minute's silence was observed in memory of Lois Luke, a very active member who passed away recently. The silence was followed by the Lord's Prayer. Dora Martyn introduced our guest speaker, Penny Barker-Adams, principal of Cartwright Central Public School who gave a fine address on Education in 1998. She spoke of the changes in education since our members attended school and explained what broad courses of study that our people have. Mrs. Barker-Adams also explained that a fund has , been rict up to replace the 1 existing playground equipment equipment at the school. A donation donation will be given to this playground equipment fund by the W.I. St. John's News by Colin Beal St. John's annual fall supper, 1998 version, was a great success. Nearly 250 people from Scugog and surrounding communities enjoyed a delicious roast beef dinner and the company company of friends and neighbours. neighbours. A wonderful group of volunteers led by Ann Carmichael and Charlotte Rutherford worked hard all evening to keep the food flowing and to wash dishes, set tables and serve tea and coffee. The attendance was so spectacular that we were, in fact, overwhelmed at times with the result that some of our guests had to wait a long time before they were served. We are looking closely at our organization and we can assure you all that we will be doing everything everything possible to avoid similar similar problems in the future. The following evening, Sunday, November 8th, St. John's hosted the Annual Ecumenical Evensong. Participating were the Anglican, Roman Catholic, United and Presbyterian Churches of Cartwright. This too was a great success with the choirs of St. John's, St. Bernadette's and Blackstock United Churches joining to provide the music and singing for this very moving service. A large congregation heard musical presentations by each of the three choirs and an anthem sung by the combined combined choirs under the direction of Catherine Cordon, Choir Director of St. John's. Scriptures were read by members of N c s 1 1 c t o n - C a d m u s Presbyterian, Blackstock United and St. Bernadette's. Father Hugh Kcrnohan (St. John's) conducted the service, service, Father Paul Hogan (St. Bernadette's) delivered the homily and Reverend David Shearman (United Ciuireli) led the intercessions.
