Well dear readers, it's almost here, with all the work and plans, the "big day" is close by and I know for most of us, it's a happy time, but on the other side, it will always bring back memories memories of bygone days. Sympathy to Mr. Robert Chatcr on the sad loss of his wife Mary, who passed away Thursday, December 17. No reports from the card parties last Wednesday night, a very large crowd and 16-17 tables. Turkey draws had several several Orono winners. Church Community Concert The Orono town hall was packed Friday evening December 18, with another celebration of the halls 100th anniversary. This time it was co-sponsored by Orono, Kirby United Churches, really really a delightful evening of Christmas music. The opening item was a violin choir of 15-16 young folks and their musical leader, Laurie Mitchell all from Orono area and all had violins. This group was excellent and not only by themselves, but they all joined in with the audience carol singing! A real thrill!! Another large group the Scouting groups, Cubs, Beavers, Brownies etc. and their leaders Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Stewart. It's interesting interesting to note here, the girls have joined in with the groups. They presented excellent Christmas Music selections. Soloists were Kathy Guselle, Janie Dodds and Violinist Zeke Mazurck. Two church choirs, Sr. Orono United Church and Jr. Choirs all brought beautiful music and with their excellent excellent pianist Mary Clare MacKinnon. Reverend Russell brought a very lovely solo, "O Holy Night" in both English and French versions. Kirby United Church brought the "Christmas Story" from Sunday school. They portrayed the "Manger Scene" on blackboard and really delightful. Evening closed with Carol singing and lunch was served to crowd. Congratulations to all who provided this wonderful evening of Christmas Music! Sr. Citizens' Complex Christmas Party A very large crowd entered the delightfully Christmas decorated Sr. Citizens Complex hall on Thursday evening, December 17. The long tables were all full and the Orono Arena Board supplied a tasty full course turkey dinner to an appreciative audience. The lovely poinsettias on tables were provided by Mardc's Flowers and we thank them. The lucky draws for plants and money were Bill Grady, Mareic West, Inez Harris, Bob Nichols, Pauline Boyd and Margaret Gunter. Congratulations to all! They really entertained entertained everyone with good lively music of all kinds, Christmas and all! Some even got up to waltz! It was a really excellent evening for everyone! Attention everyone! It would seem to this writer, more and more homes arc "lit up" this year but here's one area for everyone to come to see! The Durham Srs. Complex, Station St., Orono is really "Out of This World", with lights! Remember we told you last year, but this year is even better! Take a drive to really get the Christmas feeling!
