After losing a game 3-1 to Kool Enterprizes, the Aamco team travelled cast to Port Hope to participate in a one day tournament. Aamco was edged out of their first game losing to Port Hope Square Boys 4-3. Point getters for Aamco were Miles Calhoun one goal, Andrew Warren one goal, Rob Vale one goal, Jamie Grant one assist, Ryan Hill one assist and Ryan Ormiston one assist. In game two, Aamco needed a win to stay alive and advance to the "B" final. Aamco's next opponent was Grafton. The Aamco team was up to the challenge. Erik Smalc's outstanding goaltcnding was backed up with solid play by defencemen Chad Gilmour, Anthony Weaver, Trevor Lycctt, Justin Osborne and Rob Vale. The Aamco forwards provided ample offence earning the team a 4-2 win and a shot at the "B" Championship. Earning points for Aamco were Andrew Warren one goal and two assists, Ryan Hill one goal and one assist, Ryan Ormislon one goal and one assist, Brent Tanslcy one goal, and Justin Osborne one assist. In the "B" Final, Aamco faced the Port Hope Stcclcrs. The first period was tied 1-1 with a goal by Chad Gilmour assisted by Jesse Cole. In the second period, Aamco took the lead with a goal by Ryan Hill assisted by Jeff Ball. Aamco stretched their lead with a goal by Ryan Ormiston with assists from Andrew Warren and Phil Hopkins. Port Hope made it close, scoring with just over a minute to go in the third period. With Port Hope's goaltendcr pulled, Aamco's Ryan Hill seized the opportunity and scored on Port Hope's open net with 13.9 seconds left in the game. Aamco won the game 4-2, taking home the "B" Championship which made a great birthday gift for the coach. Sports Roundup Halminen Homes Sweep Tournament in Barrie Motor City Crane 'A' Champs The CRHL's Peewee House League team, Motor City Crane, came home from Warkworth with the "A" Championship. Motor City Crane faced a team from Oshawa in game one. Though Motor City Crane dominated the play, Oshawa was able to notch the first goal of the game. Motor City Crane was finally able to hit the mark and began piling up goals in the second period. When the final buzzer sounded, Motor City Crane had bagged 8 goals, Oshawa only 2, Anthony Keefer scored twice, as did Tyson Zolderdo. Stephen Langmaid, Vincent Willshire, Michael Brabender and Jesse Millson each added a goal. Each of these players, players, along with Dustin Privett and B.J. Brown, also earned assists. Next on the agenda was .another team from Clarington, Harvey's. Harvey's put up a strong effort but were unable to defeat Motor City Crane who won the game 5-2. Anthony Keefer again notched two goals, with singles contributed by Jesse Millson, Vincent Willshire, Tyson Zolderdo and Michael Brabender. Assists went to Anthony, Jesse, Tyson, Stephen Langmaid, Marcus Willshire and Dustin Privett. Harvey's goals were scored by Jeff McPherson, assisted by Adam Swaga and Brad Mcllroy, assisted also by Adam. This placed Motor City Crane against a strong and very aggressive team from Peterborough - St. Andrew. Play went end-to- end without a goal until almost the end of the first period when Dustin Privett knocked a rebound past the very agile Peterborough goalie. Neither side let up, but Dustin's goal stood the test and Motor City Crane won the game and the "A" Championship, with a score of 1-0. It was an incredible team effort and Blake Tanner's stellar performance performance in net earned him a shutout. Team meets Elvis Stojko The Halminen Homes Minor Novice Toros travelled travelled to Ajax on March 4 to try to wrap up their series with Ajax. After an hour delay before hitting the ice, the Toros showed that they were there to win. Brock Murphy opened the scoring late in the first with a fine end-to-end rush. Minutes later, Luke Pither did the same with Carl Andrews assisting. In the second, Greg Nemisz put away a Brandon Castellan rebound and Pither found the net on a penally shot. Zak Snowden set up Pither for the fifth Toros goal and the Toros then coasted to a convincing 5-1 victory to send them onto the York- Simcoc Championship. ' After their big win against Ajax, the Toros ventured to Barrie to have some fun at the 4th annual Glenn Ballcrby Memorial Tournament. During the three game group playdown, the Toros put on the amazing offensive offensive show, defeating Oakville 6-0, Markham 10-0 and Chatham 4-3. The Toros were led by Luke Pither 6 goals, 3 assists, Greg Nemisz 3 goal, 4 assists, Brock Murphy 2 goals, 3 assists, Luis Martone 2 goals, 3 assists, Wade Pickcll 2 goals, 1 assist, Carl Andrews 2 goals, 1 assist, Nick Araujo 1 goal, 3 assists, Denver Brown 1 goal, 1 assist, Dan McCarthy 1 goal, 1 assist, Brandon Castellan 5 assists, Zak Snowden 5 assists, Allin Dillon 2 assists, Scott Dwinncl 3 assists and single assists going to Mike Bcrncy and Kurtis Allen. The Toros continued their fine effort and defeated defeated Stratford 4-1 in the quarter-final. Richmond Hill 9-4 in the semi-final, and then finished off the Championship game with a fine 6-1 victory over Mcadowvalc.
