The men and women invested in The Order are representative of the best of Ontario's caring and diverse society and stand as shining examples for us all. Nominations must be received by May 1, 2002. COMMUNITY ACTION AWARDS - 2002 Through these awards, the Province of Ontario recognizes individuals who have endeavoured to improve the lives of persons persons with disabilities and make Ontario a better place. Each spring, 15 Ontarians are chosen to receive the award. These are individuals who have made a significant contribution to their communities by promoting integration and independence; independence; showing commitment and dedication to developing the potential of persons with disabilities and improving their quality of life; and demonstrating leadership in preventing and removing barriers that impede the full participation of persons with disabilities in our society. Nomination deadline is April 19, 2002. LINCOLN M. ALEXANDER AWARD Every year since 1993, the Ministry of Citizenship and the Ministry of Education have presented this award to honour two young Ontarians who have demonstrated exemplary leadership in eliminating racial discrimination. One recipient of the award is an Ontario secondary school student who is expected to be admitted into a post-secondary institution for fulltime fulltime studies. The other recipient is a youth, 16 to 25 years old, who is nominated by a community organization. Nomination deadline is April 30, 2002.
