Bruins coach gambling his team will come back Uxbridge drops . opening two games of Jr. C final to Essex BY BRAD KELLY Staff Writer UXBRIDGE - Las Vegas odds- makers haven't posted any lines on the Ontario Hockey Association Junior C final series, but if they did, Uxbridge Bruins coach Brad Barton has a little advice for gamblers. Don't bet against his hockey club. Despite dropping the opening two games of the best-of-seven Clarence Schmalz Cup final series to the Essex 73's, Barton is rolling the dice that his team will come back. "We are not going out in four straight. If 1 were a betting man, I would bet on my team.' "I believe in them to come back and make this a great series if not win it." Uxbridge will. get a chance to get back into the series tomorrow night (Thursday) in Gamer3<aHhe Uxbridge Arena at 7:45 p ; Fnf EksexMsts Game-4 - 1 Saturday night. The series has already taken on a couple of different momentum swings, with Essex coming out ahead in that department. Uxbridge jumped out to a 5-1 home ice lead in the series opener Friday night, only to have Essex storm back with five unanswered goals (o steal a 6- 5 win. "We weren't playing that great and were lucky to be up 5-1," conceded Barton. "The kids may have thought 'this is too easy,' but the score wasn't indicative of the play. "We sat on a lead and you can't do that at this level. We have come back from deficits like that all year, so we know it can be done it's just the first time it happened to us." After scoring five in a row to close out the first game of the series, Essex scored the first five goals on home ice in Game 2 before surrendering a couple couple of late ones to Uxbridge, resulting in a 5-2 win the following night. "We played well enough to win but didn't," said Barton of the result. Despite the setbacks in the opening two games, Barton warned against counting his team out of the series. In fact, he expects his team to be full of confidence when it takes to the ice for the pivotal third game. "(A lack of confidence) won't be an issue. We were definitely upset after losing Game 2," he began. "The players players still believe they can win. We are not going out in four straight. "(Essex) has the upper hand, but if anybody wants to jump off the bandwagon, bandwagon, 1 guarantee this team has a lot of heart and desire to come back. If anyone wants to point the finger (for the losses) point it at me and not my players because they deserve a lot of praise." If necessary, the final three games of the series will unfold in Uxbridge Wednesday, April 24, Essex Saturday, April 27 and Uxbridge Monday, April 29.
